Had a G6, and what I took away from that was simple. I will never buy another LG unless it comes with "stock" android. Their software gave me the kind of nervous twitches I only thought oldschool Touchwiz could bring forth.

Maybe they are not interested in international sales??

their phones have most of thinks for success (esp quality audio), but lack overall polishing.
Maybe they should start listening to their european customers?

What they should do, is - remake their outdated UI and taking LG V30, change the chipset to snapdragon 710, 1080p display, maybe a bit better camera sensor, and sell the same thing for 300 bucks.

It is compact by modern standards yet still housing 6inch display with no notch. 3,5mm hifi jack, wide lens camera, wireless charging, thin body, IP68...

LG had great display/body ratios even without notches, they are the first one implementing wide lens instead of this stupid portrait lenses, they have the best audio jack dack, and probably the only company keeping 3,5mm audio jack at all in flagships, yet still having wireless charging and still being thin etc... LG V30 was a great phone, just the price wasnt right and they cant compete with their outdated UI (the same goes for sony, even though sony has much more problems like super thick phones yet not great battery life, terrible display/body ratio, no headphone jack etc...)

2018 is a year with many innovative smartphones except those innovations are not from those stagnant companies. If what has happened in the past few weeks is any indication, 2019 is the year we will see smartphone world moving in a new direction with many innovative products.

If they knew they are going to lose money, why dont they cut price to compete with chinese? I am pretty sure that would put them on the map, if they came with something like pocophone

I.M.O the mobile world is stagnant. Same designs no innovation. Just 6" screens with notches. Maybe the odd difference camera tech. Same poor battery life. So the market is saturated with same looking phones. Shame.

Smartphone development is slowing coming to a halt. Not yet, but when technological development is such that the manufacturers can't double the speed in even 10 years.

Then LG has a future. As only the biggest brands will survive. It will be like which brand do you want? Samsung or LG in the West. Apple will bit the dust in the next 10 to 20 years.

They need to remove that "Bootlogger" bug from their phones & maybe their phone might sell more.

Kerginaldo, 04 Feb 2019LG needs a good management. Also amoled screen They don't need Active Matrix OLED. They have new LCD/LED tech that like adds more emphasis on the white for example.

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2019Don't think I can remember seeing an LG ad in UK. However, ... moreThe improper marketing is the reason cited most often for LG's poor phone sales is because it's true that their marketing is poor indeed. Now look at OnePlus. They don't have the best cameras/display/battery/design or anything as such. But they market their phones really well. You might argue that it has good value for money, but the truth is, you can often find an LG flagship after about 3 months of launch at heavily discounted prices that either compete with OnePlus or even beat it, while having better features like wireless charging/water resistance/better audio/and also probably better displays.

I have the opinion that if they could market their phones well, they would be at a different situation right now. What they probably need now is a new marketing team, and they should also take some cues from companies like OnePlus in their marketing strategies. Even if LG's phones aren't the best in any department significantly, they're not worst in most departments as well. That fact alone, combined with the price/value proposition should move units with hordes.

Personally, I would not mind using an LG flagship if they just improve on battery and a bit on software, even after being a OnePlus user.

Hey LG am a loyal user , cAN you please get rid of that stupid notch on your phones and design something better

Anonymous, 04 Feb 2019Yet they still keep knocking out phones even with all that ... moreBecause mobiles is just a side job. They expect to get in track, it seems. I wish them good luck with it.

However, I hear "marketing" or lack of being given as the reason for poor sales. I disagree. If they had Pixel cameras and/or decent screens and proper batteries, then a lack of sales would indeed be a marketing issue. However, they have only one thing in their favour, the quad DAC. I don't know a single person that has ever said to me, in the real world, as opposed to in the comments on a tech/fan website, hey Id have poor everything else, if I could just get a quad DAC. I'll go so far to say that not a single person that walked into any Carphone Warhouse store in my area (there are 4 within 5 miles), in the last week, would know or need a quad DAC le el of audio fidelity. I dare say that nobody would list that above battery, screen, camera. Id bet they don't have 500 people in their phone division. So, they could have given all their phone workers $1million dollars each, and saved $200million.
