Even the cheapest phones from S/E like the xperia mini will get ICS! So, it's a big shame that samsung will only upgrade 3 out of 10 android phones! Even their old tablets will be left in the dust.

Samsung are great when it comes to technology, but they are no where close to either Apple or Sony when it comes to keeping support to their devices.

M.Morsy, 20 Dec 2011Samsung now force you to buy them new phones, i bought Gal... moreSo, go for custom ROM.
It's no need to wait for update schedule.
it's the best ROM compare to standard ROM because it's already optimize by expert. Please google for XDA DEVELOPER.. if you want too.

Guys when i bought my s2 once released in my country, i made my homework, and i knew since that time that "s" will get its last OS to be 2.3.5 , but for "s2" it was most likely they will update it to the new OS. this is the nature of business you cant ask for updates for the rest of your life just because you want to. i had Iphone 3gs, few months they completely changed that handset into the 4s. i didnt complain and nag, simple progression of technologies and i am fine with that since i decided to move on through smartphones. And guys remember you cant change the fact that samsung will make profit even if you buy iphone.... iphoners please stop it. go back to your old phone, for me and for many many in the worled we decided to go beyond what iphone reached and so we are ready to get a new mobile every year.
        thank you

How about the Original Galaxy Tab P1000? Should i wait for n0thing? These seems to be unfair as their original flagship devices won't get an update? What is this, a MARKETING STRATEGY? Wtf!!

What the frack?! I just bought a Galaxy W and it isnt even getting the ICS update??? You gotta be kidding me?! SE is committing to get ICS on many of their Xperia phones and majority of these have the same component as the Galaxy W!!!

Thanks a lot Samsung for making all of us Galaxy W owners feel like bastard step-children!

RG, 20 Dec 2011Guys chill... every phone has a lifecycle of support. Gal... moreYou are wrong I am afraid. The device is first realised 18 months ago and gradually rolled out to other markets.

When I bought mine 12 months ago Samsung was still pushing it like hell and it has two years warranty. It cannot be out of support life cycle.

Samsung had a good opportunity to answer its critics, by sending off their flagship products with a stable ICS update but instead will leave tens of millions of customer with a bad taste in mouth.

Also Samsung ports their TouchWiz once for ICS not for every individual device. I am sure most people prefer plain, quick, stable Android updates to custom UIs, or unstable filesystems (Samsung's RFS).

Galaxy S port would not be different form Nexus S port as the hardware and drivers are the same. I am making this statement as a software engineer,

Galaxy S is almost 2y/o device and it`s already out of the list with supported devices, so you don`t need to be angry at Samsung, cause it`s the most normal thing.

I hope it's not going to be baggie like galaxy nexus! And I hope Adope flash work well as gs2 and note in gingerbread 2.3 unlike galaxy nexus with useless flash.

Guest, 20 Dec 2011Samsung has proved its critic right when it comes to suppor... more"Galaxy S is identical hardware to Nexus S. Nexus S already has Android 4."

your comment made me laughed. eveyone knows that the nexus s is from google. so being the pioneer of the android 4, and being released at a later date compared to s II, its easy to know why nexus s got the android 4. samsung has to port over android 4 to the rest of the galaxy lineup phone and make sure all softwares and hardwares are working well. nexus s is designed by GOOGLE. so this will be the FIRST phone with android 4 and not to mess up with its sales, all phones with android 4 will come at a later date.
