14 February 2019

sadh, 14 Feb 2019Nokia did a good job. They sold 1m Lumia back then in firs... moreNokia owned and was Symbian,

Symbian is a keypad dream OS.
Symbian on the other hand was near impossible to write code for touchscreen

Nokia chose Microsoft and Windows due to it security unlike Android and the monthly security update patches
Nokia (HMD) is Google Android with Blackberry the two most secure Operating Systems now rely on security patches

Both Microsoft and Blackberry app stores are essentially winding down, so if you were say given a brand new Lumia or Blackberry, many popular apps are either gone or haven't been updated in years

Re Microsoft Windows all major phone manufacturers had a Windows Phone, either arrogance due its perceives dominance in the PC market, Microsoft took forever to bring out Windows 8 that All but Nokia released a Windows Phone 8

Windows Phone 10 during testing crashed every Windows Phone 8, to the Nth degree but despite this Microsoft still went ahead.

In short if Windows Phone 10 was fixable all that would have been necessary is to release say a major release say Windows Phone 12 to all Windows Phone 10,

Windows Phone 10 is "malware" so having ignored the problems Microsoft quit phones

There is no possibility for Microsoft to re enter the phone market. There is only 2 operating systems, one doesn't even have memory expansion

sadh, 14 Feb 2019Nokia did a good job. They sold 1m Lumia back then in firs... moreYes, but I think they can do even better. What they need to do is launch more devices with great value and grab more market shares from Sammy

Smartphones have been commoditized at this point. Paying an extra $100-200 for faster processor, more memory, etc only gives a marginal benefit. Phones in the $300-400 range is the sweet spot. Not too expensive and great performance for the price. Especially with job wages becoming stagnated while living expenses is increasing every year, consumers are wising up and saving wherever they can.

After Huawei has locked bootloader they will not progress anymore. Very bad decision.

It would be the same in America if the Chinese brands would have more phones with the US bands. IDK about other Americans but I'm sick and tired of rising prices of phones while little by little they remove features I used to enjoy (IR Blaster, Big battery, Headphone Jack, etc). I'm excited for Essential and ZTE but I wouldn't even mind getting a Ulefone, Umidigi, or Blackview if the specs are good along with the price. Helio P70 and P90 are just fine for real-life use.

                        Nokia did a good job.
They sold 1m Lumia back then in first year, then climbing up to 10m per quarter in 4th gen Lumia.
                        So it took four year.
And we're talking about Nokia when they still popular.

After 2 years break and coming back and start it all over again, i think they did well.
