Anonymous, 19 Feb 2019OMG infrared! Yes Xiaomi yes!but they ditched everything else. :-(
No SD-card slot, no audio jack, no optical image stabiliser...
Why did they even bother?

You better skip this phone because Mi flagships have a lot of bugs. Im coming from Mi Mix 3. Better choose Poco F1 or wait for the F2. Though you will be sacrificing the camera quality, you can always use the right Gcam port to improve it. Gcam in Mi flagships are very unstable by the way, in case you are planning to use it. Only the Oneplus flagship is the best phone for its $500 price segment, or you may buy a previous flagship from Samsung which is also a deal breaker. Xiaomi is trying to jack up their prices here but they will fail in India with this style because all we want is a very cheap phone with flagship specs and better overall performance. Its just sad that Xiaomi will fail in India knowing that indians are abusively thrifty and really wants to ask more for the price. So the best move for you is either go Poco or the Redmi for below the $300 level. If you can shell out 400-500, then get Oneplus or a previous flagship.

I hope it will have Google Widevine L1 security certificate. It is absolutely "must have" feature in 2019 flagship smartphones.

I hope you can use the dedicated button for different things, like silence the phone perhaps. With custom rooms or apps this should be possible.
About the leaks before the event, i believe its a marketing trick. You keep the people hearing about the mi 9 by revealing future one by one and at the and you throw it all out, i think that would stick with people better than one event....

Still not enough to make me change my mi6. May be the mix4 will have a small popup camera instead of a slider into a 6" body, fingers crossed.

Thanks Xaiomi for bringing back the IR Blaster! One of the most convenient things in Xiaomi devices.
I always wondered why they've removed it in the Mi 8 in the first place!

Lead2XL, 19 Feb 2019One feature that would never motivate me to buy a phone is ... moreMaybe you can remap it to do something useful. Xiaomi doesn't have an interest in keeping you from remapping it, like Samsung with Bixby.

Very happy to hear for the infrared to make a return, but honestly and in reality it never should've disappeared. 2-GPS was a gimmick on Mi 8, never saw it working as intended.
So Mi 10 gets rid of the notch with a bezel.
Mi 11's "new" feature will be the 3.5mm jack.
Mi 12 will be balanced enough and function like a normal phone again.
So let's wait and see.

The last Oracle, 19 Feb 2019Hahaha. So basically Xiaomi has unofficially cancelled the ... moreWell u could say it in that way, and with all these information we got from them, u most probably know what's about to be unveiled there already. Quite a different approach by XIAOMI right there, instead of sending invites to MWC 2019, they gave us more and more information day to day, ruining the hype that's built up for quite a while now. At least leave the rumors as it is am I right?

I'm a mi 8 user, and here's my thoughts about this phone:
1. FFS Xiaomi!!! Only now u wanna include ir blaster like
wtf?? U don't know how much fun i hv when i turn on and
of the tv at my local restaurant using my redmi note 5. Why
don't include on the mi 8 like the mi 6 was??
2. A dedicated Google assistant button?? Why? U know that
most xiaomi phones let u trigger the damn thing when u
hold the power button for 0.5s
3. For ppl interested in buying this, pls be prepared that u will
be ignored by Xiaomi once the pocophone f2 comes out.
There's too many bugs that xiaomi hasn't fixed for almost
6 months!
4. I thought they're going to release miui 11?? Hey Xiaomi,
how bout u fix miui 10 first! The bug on the gallery app, app
vault, and themes integration are very poor...

One feature that would never motivate me to buy a phone is a dedicated Google Assistant button, something I would never use as I don't like virtual assistants of any kind.
