Higher resolution isn't that amazing but the refresh rate is god like. Most games I have support the full 120fps play.

andrehe, 19 Feb 2019The human eye is surprisingly able to recognize subtle diff... moreWhat the h are you even talking about? Considering you only need to hold your phone 30-40 cm away from your eyes (that's 12-16 inches), you don't need more than 300ppi to see an ultra-sharp image.

If you are holding your phone closed than 30cm (12 inches) from your face, you are using it wrong. Learn how to use your device.

Anything more than 330 ppi on a phone/tablet is overkill. Unless you are using your phone in a VR headset, you will not see any difference between a 330 ppi screen and a 500 ppi screen from normal viewing/reading distance.

Also, let's not forget that AMOLED's (pen-tile/diamond pixels) technical ppi is not the display's real ppi. These screens' real ppi is 1/3 lower than the technical specification.

For example, the Note 9 has a 1440p display and a stated 516 ppi, however its real maximum rendered resolution is 1440*2/3 = 960p and a real 344 ppi. So a 1080p LCD screen of the same size will be sharper than a 1440p AMOLED.

And most phones that sport high ppi displays use AMOLED screens, which means their real ppi is 1/3 lower than stated.

That's why the Note 9 has a display sharpness that is only 5.5% higher than the iPhone 4/5/6/7/8/SE for example.
