Apple's market share is declining in Europe, but expands in the US

22 December, 2011
The UK is also seeing a growth from Apple, but continental Europe is friendlier to cheaper Androids.

[deleted post]How will MS buying RIM ruin apple and android? If anything it will take out more competition and allow apple and android to grow further. RIM and MS aren't going to make any significant impact on the market for atleast a couple of years as they are both way behind the current market. If MS buy RIM it will lead to their downfall! Will be funny to see :). Just mainly confused because why would a company who is looking to get somewhere in the market buy out on of the worst performing companies that are on the market? Doesn't make sense as to how that will cause the downfall of apple and android.

This is most likely not because of Apple's iphone price, but due to the iphone's screen size sticking to 3.5" whereas it would have continued its increasing market share if it had been increased to at least 4.0" or more (with the introduction of iphone 4s) that is expected by most existing users and potentially new ones. If Apple does the right thing with the yet-to-be-introduced iphone 5, it should regain and continue to retain its top position.

It has nothing to do with financial situation. Otherwise, Apple's market share would not sink in Germany, which has pretty healthy economics (unlike Spain or Italy).

iOS is worth paying for alone. Every game on the app store works for it. GTA3 has no problem running on 3GS.

There's no having to check for compatibility issues. Android is only filling the gap that Symbian left behind.

No doubt Apple will now be running to every court room in Europe tyring to sue competitors; claiming they invented anything and everything!

the iPhone is still the most popular phone, then finance has nothing to do with customers' choice. Logic seems to be the major factor...

This just proves that Europe is finally realising that Apple are a brainwashing cult rather than a mobile phone manufacturer. It won't be long til the rest of the world realises and Apple are shut down.

Having an iPhone isn't really a sign of wealth.. It is nothing but an expensive fashion accessory with telephone capabilities.

Good job Europe. Lets hope the UK and US can follow suit (unlikely but we can live in hope)

pcgm, 22 Dec 2011That means Europe is getting poorer and US is getting richer!!!!Wow, did you ever think before you posted your comment here. It doesn't mean that if you have an Iphone 4s you're already rich lol. Maybe you're just showing it off to show that you're rich but your phone probably doesn't event have the credits to even make a single text lol.

In us,apple has banned other brands with the help of their best friend-The patent office- and thus makes it acquire higher sales. It's da new trend in marketing than inventing something new(Poor jonathan ive,who made a collection of "already outdated" collection of technology and named it as iPhone. That was actually the real fraud.stole other people's ideas and patent it as theirs..lol....Now they thinks that apple was the founder of the wheel also... )

A recent article in The Daily Mail (UK), accompanied by a nice photograph, showed the breakdown of the manufacturing cost of an iPhone 4. It totalled £137. The price in the shops is £499, so from leaving the factory to appearing on the shelves the product rose by £362. That is a LOT of profit. Apple could reduce the price by at least £100 and still return a healthy profit; it would also put them back at the top!
Will they? What do you think?
