Not sure what the big deal is anyway, all this while, we have also had different companies using the same camera modules from Sony. Differences in software and other implementations can still result in differences in image quality.

But i have a fealling sams... moreAs those copycats provide a more reliable, better and flexible solution than the rigid and slow Nokia one, they are welcome!!! I don't care if they come from China, as the Nokia ones come from China too. So welcome copycats with OIS, telephoto, wide angle, ToF, added to the rigid Light matrix. Updated hardware and design for a even more affordable and better phone.
Imagine how much will ask Nokia with a SD855, 5G with that rigid solution, audio jack removed, microSD removed and radio removed! Welcome Xiaomi and company copycats. A reasonable affordable but premium mid-range Redmi X with Light matrix, added flexible cameras, scoring more than the Nokia 9 but with all the features, big battery, audio jack, radio, microSD, double SIM, UD sensor, etc, upcoming! Feel and fear the future...

Carol, 27 Feb 2019Yeah, clarly Light wants money. But i have a fealling sams... moreBut that Chinese copy cat have flagship with SD855 (7nm) for price under 500 euros. Oh, and dxmark says it's one of the best camera phone right now, and phone with best (or one of the best) video.
What HMD have, they just recykling design from old orignal Nokia phones (even from Lumias), does not have phone with actual flagship processor at all. And, yes, camera app still lags on Nokia 9 PureView (that's Youtube says)..

The funniest part of all this will be the face that will be left to more than one if the multi-camera phones that come out of this partnership with Light, beats in image quality of those from Nokia, for now the Nokia 9. Almost that is perverse, but that's the competition.
Taking into account that there is a dedicated chip designed by Light, looks like is the own Light the one that is looking for partners to sell its chips and obtain extra profits. It will be interesting to see the comparisons between phones of different brands that use it. But especially if Xiaomi takes a broader perspective and instead of only fixed lenses it combines others, some additional with OIS as camera dedicated to video or telephoto or wide angle, etc., apart from those that use the Light chip in the same phone.

End of the dslr very near...for example - if Dslr uses 2 inch image sensor then phone will use 1/2" +1/2"+1/2"+1/2" = 2 inch sensor with 4 or 5 camera setup so image quality will be same as dslr...it is a simple math...which know Light camera maker company

There is not much room in this tech segment to make something totally new and different.
When you make fold phone you will copy it from either Samsung or Huawei.
When apple started to make phones they copied the idea of making phones. They had there own design for touchscreen but that wasnt something new and there was touch screen phones in the market for years before too. They just made it popular.
Like Xiaomi copy Mi Mix from Sharp Aquos and made it popular and then others started to copy them or joined the bezel less feature in there own way.
With feature phones you can say if someone is copying someone. But now as the full one side of the phone is a screen there is only a camera place and how many lenses it has. Even as fingerprint scanner is moving under display nobody cant say it's copy from someone for as a design element

Talking about things that dont exist. At least i have not seen any ads on my xiaomi phone and i have not even turned off anything ads related.

Adding sd 855 and high battery and high camera sensor(48MP) at low price is better?
No innovations just copy and paste it onto their models thatsall. Tired of these chinese manufaturers. Their quality fades after some time. Then u think its low price its fine.
But why to compromise just for few bucks more if other manufacturers are giving best?
