The name of the new USB standard changes to USB 3.2 Gen 2x2

27 February 2019
"2x2" is a weird way to say "3", but renaming the old USB 3.1 Gen 1 and Gen 2 standards can make things even more confusing.

Anonymous, 27 Feb 2019How is it outdated? Can you enlighten us as to what speeds... moreNew Android phones have USB Type-C with USB 3.0 speeds. The lightning connector has been on Apples devices since the iPhone 5 and the original iPad 4, so it is old. The lightning connector also still uses USB 2.0 speeds. The new current iPad Pro has USB Type-C and it will surely be on the iPhones.

I guess I will wait for the new AMD architecture after Ryzen 4 to not only have PCI-E Gen 4 but also have at least two USB-C 3.2 on the motherboard I/O.

guys which was the first phone to use the USB type C?

How many cables will be 100% compliance with the USB standard?
:-) How many phones will be destroyed?

Whatever happened to that Benson guy from Google?

The goal is not to make it clear but more confusing. The more confused you are, the easier it is for companies to sell you "an upgrade" that's only different in name

                            Kiyasuriin, 27 Feb 2019//confused.... ? (o,..,o);Next year:

                            USB 3.3.1 Gen 5.0 SP3 (5Gbps)
                            USB 3.3.1 Gen 5.2 SP1 (10Gbps)
                            USB 3.3.1 Gen 6.1 SP1 (20Gbps)
                            USB 3.3.1 Gen 5.0^2 SP3 (25Gbps)

This thing is nonsense. Just have USB 3.0, 3.1 (10gbps) and 3.1 Turbo (since 3.1T is regular 3.1 with compatible ports).

I know the point of 3.1 was to advertise Type-C. But this is a mess.

Maybe when we reach USB 10.1 Gen 10x10 Chinese companies will start using type-C 3.2 Gen 1 on their $400 phones. #fingerscrossed

It's gone from worse to terrible. They should've kept it simple, Something as USB3 G1, G2 etc......

And yet every USB Type-C phone uses 2.0 standard.....

While Wi-Fi has made it easier for us, normal human beings, to understand these tech terms and versions, USB makes it more difficult. SMH 1.0.
