It is FINE that he huge slabs are offered, but where is the variation?? And no I do NOT mean entry level or mediocre devices. Offer variation is size and type. We are NOT all equal as the ideal of the Mao-China period, with one uniform fitting all.

Different people means, different use cases, different human size, different wishes and needs... So why just one kind of huge slabs with minuscule variations??

I want to see different sizes. One/two displays (think yota). Slabs, clamshell and sliders. With and without physical keyboards, et cetera.

At the least they offered a first glimpse on folded devices, that might end offering some variation.

It does not make sense to blame the lack of variation in the devices on the OS.

SURE Google could COMPENSATE the lack of hardware variation to some extent with a more complex UI with more possible variation. But it is a HUGE leap that would leave a huge amount of apps in the dark as they would need to be more or less rewritten to work with a new UI.

You guys are really a tough crowd to please. Every phone presented on MWC is a very good phone indeed. Gone are days of revolution (due to Android software limitations) so expecting something radical every year is as close to as being spoiled.

Now it's really a time to kick Google's butt about lacking Android development and standards. They didn't do nothing to support the ever growing screens and adapt the navigation and core functionality, They didn't do nothing to revise design standards for third party apps to improve multitasking (just take a look at the app's sticking headers that take away the precious screen estate when in split screen), they you have ancient bluetooth protocol especially in media streaming like it's 2006, no custom hardware mapping by manufacturer is ever possible cause Google doesn't require third party apps to tag their buttons so the can be mapped to physical portions of the design without app developer going into the app to support it, etc

Anonymous, 10 Mar 2019Yeah, to you maybe. Samsung cant even fully foldThe gap is not that big and Mate X cant full fold either its that camera bump (or whatever it shoul be called) which makes it look completely folded and Galaxy Fold.is.more practical though a bigger outter display would be better

Their cameras cost 2x the price of the best cameras. And are far from being among the best. Leica does not make sensors.

All cellphones use sensors from Sony, Samsung or Omnivision.

Except Canon, all cameras use Sony sensors.

New prototypes of foldables from multiple brands are important, as when more people will buy them and more generations of them come, the better the price will be. To see cheap 1.gen device is nothing more than a wish and later other bring something out, the harder will be for them to compete in build quality and price. Currently phones 6 months old are already behind in tech as compared to new ones, year old are like prehistoric, because its easy to copy tech and release it more cheaply for most companies.
