galaxy p1000 was the (first)model to give success to the newer models...why must it be left behind???if it weren't for p1000,there wouldnt be greater models like tab2,right?.....at least give it running 3.0... :(

It's almost February 2012, hey Samsung peeps, where's our ICS Update. I hope your team already have your acts straightened out. The original Galaxy Tab is what pushed you to success in the great tab race. DON'T LEAVE IT BEHIND!

AnonD-10436, 27 Dec 2011I was once a Victim of Nokia UPDATE. I bought two expensiv... moreSame thing happened to me, but with a Nokia X6. The Galaxy S didn't actually receive any updates. WEclair to Froyo" and "Froyo to Gingerbread" were almost the same crappy software. I would consider it an update if the phone had been released with Donut or Cupcake, but updating from 2.1 to 2.2 or 2.3 is really insgnificant. And ICS update would be the first real update.

Hey guys lets not forget about the bada phones. . .the same thing was said for 2 bada phones - eaves 525 and wave 533. . .they too will get a 'value pack'. . .but Samsung never mentioned when. . .and the reason os very simple in the case of the galaxy S aka I9000. . .it has a hummingbird chipset which is really good almost as good as nividia tegra 2.. . But it has its own limitations. . .and therefore u cant install ics on the galaxy S. . .

It's not the same device like "old" i9000.

The lack of ICS on my brazillian edition Galaxy Tab buries it deeper in the land of dated devices, while ICS support would bring it straight back to being one of the most complete available (including digital and analog TV, GSM phone calls and being very portable).

I'm not holding my breath. It'd be too awesome, but this brazillian edition pretty much breaks my hope because of the TV antenna. They're going to have extra work, and it wouldn't be like Samsung to do that. Plus, that'll prevent me from being able to use custom firmware in case they don't port ICS but someone else does. One thing's for sure, the Tab has hardware slightly better than my current Xperia neo, which is soon to be running on ICS, thanks to the better update policy from Sony Ericsson.

it seems samsung has upgrading difficulties both with the third party os android and their own bada os.

their very large range of devices is becoming harder and harder to manage from this point of view because we are talking of different hardware capabilities.

somehow, buying samsung these days means to get stuck in the software version you received with the device or in best case, minor improvments.
