i was tied up to their note series until note 8. it only was because of the s-pen- i do alot of sketches on the go as a hobby. i have always defended samsung because of (what i thought it was) their topnotch features and hardware. their curved screens did it for me and i sold my note 8 no more than a month after buying it unlocked. i got myself a good old pencil and paper to continue with sketching, then got myself the first razer phone. this year i also bought the pocophone f1 and the razer phone 2, and i am realizing i may not be getting the "premium" feels and experience of the galaxy note series anymore, but i don't miss it any bit. all i am trying to say is whatever the perceived justification of prices of the top oems, there is just no beating of what oems like xiaomi can achieve with very little profit margin to add to their bom. i mean, i may not have the QHD screen or that punchy damoled (which is btw overrated because white becomes greenish/yellowish after a year due to the weakening blue subpixel), or even that s-pen pressure sensitive digitizer, but still i get top performing alternative with a third of the cost.

$400 profit seem good enough. How much should Samsung pay the R&D and marketing if they doing it the chinese way of getting only less than $25 profit. Shipping the phone from factories to their stores around the world not cheap either and not free. That profit need to cover operating cost as well.

Welcome to capitalism. But the best example is Apple. I bet iPhone XS Max doesn’t cost even 400bucks and Apple sells it for 1250bucks and funnier thing is people are buying those junks.

That mid range devices beats your flagship in multicore benchmarks. That mid range shots as good pictures as your Galaxy. That mid range also has the same Super AMOLED panel.
You know next year Samsung might add triple cameras to the front and bring something like LGs under display speakers maybe 1 TB internal storage and price it at 2000 dollars and yes people like you will still buy it because Apple will price 100 dollars more for the same.

It gives you a triple camera setup, a 3300 mAh battery that lasts as long as the 4000 of the S10+, the latest SD 855 chipset, the gimmicky UD fingerprint sensor, HDR 10 display, the Super AMOLED display also to the tiny notch on the Mi 9 is much better looking than the ugly shithole on the S10+ only things it lacks are IP68 rating, a headphone jack and Micro SD slot. So if I want these three additional features along with the triple camera setup the option will be the regular S10 which itself costs 900 euros ie. more than twice the Mi9. That's a ridiculously high premium Samsung is charging from consumers.
Spending 400 euros on Mi9 and sacrificing 3 features is much better than spending 900 euros on the S10 and sacrificing your hard earned money.

Real people can read price listings. A Huawei Mate 20 Pro is 50 euros cheaper than the most expensive current Samsung model, the S10+. That's 50 euros saved on cheaper 2018 garbage with a 50% chance of a Russian criminal finding that hardware-layer backdoor and empties your bank accounts.
Worth it? I think not.

You do realise One Plus is making their phones more expensive year by year, Huawei has also been increasing their flagship phones yearly.
And when Mate 30 Pro does come out it will definetly cost more than the Mate 20 Pro. So no all Android phone prices are increasing even budget range phones have higher price tags now then they did years ago.

Like I said they are not the only reasons theres plenty more.
Go watch some youtubers like Unbox therapy and Flossy carter they have no issues on therir fingerprint sensors it a quick one tap and you in very fast and quick.

Just because it isnt to your taste does not mean it is a gimmick maybe someone else will prefer that feature and use it. If Huawei can charge over $1600 dollars for a phone with just Porsche branding or Apple charging $1200 dollars for XS Max and then you have Samsung S10 series that does stuff the other 2 can't and has the latest tech like the fatest RAM which seems to be helping because its beating Ipones in real life usage tests then compared to the other 2 the S10 series is a bargain.
There's far worse examples out there than Samsung.
And like I said if they too expensive then you can get the S10e for alot cheaper or buy a Note 9 or Galaxy S9 which has dropped in price alot.
