Google's mid-rangers will be called Pixel 3a, the small one will have a 5.6" OLED screen

19 March 2019
The Pixel 3a is said to match the image quality of the flagship Pixels, though its mid-range chipset needs more time to process photos.

Anonymous, 20 Mar 20195.6" is small? Go to hell, Google. In today's world, it is. With all these 18:9 and 19:9 aspect ratios 5.6 is smaller than a 16:9 5.6 inch phone

It seems to have large bezels and that 5.6 inch screen in them wont make the phone very compact like that. Will still be something over 150mm tall. For the specks it should fly with 250 euro as minimum for the price cause of the oled screen only or top 300 euro. Bu as it's google pixel it will be 500 or more.

First every brand killing off compact phones while they all that made compacts either were with flagship hardware with the premium price or with hardware so low that dont even look them and still with too high premium prices.

Sorry but if there is only things to get new for now for a bit smaller phone then i see why brands are not making smaller phones. As they all are either too expensive or too expensive with low hardware power. SD670 is ok but not for the price google will ask for it.

My iPhone SE is ridiculously slow. Now the mobile Twitter site does get slow even on my Androids but it's noticeably slower on iOS' Safari app.

I just can't sell my iPhone because it still makes a nice iPod and to also communicate with people for free using iMessages via Wi-Fi. Those are the only reasons why I will never sell it.

I think my choices will be better three phones...

        1. Google Pixel 3a
        2. Sony Xperia XA2
        3. Samsung S10e

I decided to put the XA2 higher because this could be the last decent-sized Xperia if the fairly tall Xperia 4 is going to replace the Compact series. XA2 is a little taller than the XZ2C but I like the design and price better. It also has a headphone jack. The last Compact which had it was the XZ1C but don't its boxy nature.

I only ask for a few things -
        1. Matte back
        2. Headphone jack
        3. Price

If the Pixel 3a is $200 cheaper than the S10e, then it's the obvious choice. Think of the Pixel 3a like the Nexus 5X. They'll probably be some good deals where we can get it for under $300-$400.

I remember the iPhone SE was originally priced at $400-$500. I was able to buy an AT&T one for $200 only one year after release. It went down to $149 a few months later. Then spent about $90 to unlock it. Patience is the key here.

Flagship SoC and winning speed tests is just for bragging rights.

xXENDER FREAKXx, 20 Mar 2019Well I guess one of them has to go huh?Yup. It was decided that design and quality would be axed in favor of marketing.
Still Pricey. But now the price gets you the aforementioned 5$ Google Play Gift Card (but now you can only use it for services that cost more than 30$. Other conditions still apply)

xXENDER FREAKXx, 20 Mar 2019And with that in mind, hopefully their quality control have... moreThat would require a price higher than Pricey. We're looking at "Mind-boggling" for this criteria.
If you want a design that's not a total train wreck, we're looking at Mortgage for the price.
If you want both, we're looking at Bankruptcy or Fraud, depending on your ethics.

The a is supposed to mean affordable but that idea got dropped late in the process. Too late to redo, rewrite and reprint all the marketing they made to promote the device to name it the P3p/P3Xp

AnonD-558092, 19 Mar 2019Price: Pricey And with that in mind, hopefully their quality control have improved a lot by then

To be honest what's with the "a" behind? Are they trying to follow what SAMSUNG did with their GALAXY S10e? It sounds and looks ugly really

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2019I'm not guessing lesa than $500.I do wonder, how they (Google) became so big company being so dumb if they price pixel lite version for more than $350.
cz Original pixel 3 is now often available at $599. If, inferior, plasticky, lower processored, camera, single front camera are sold for $400-500. Who do you think will but it? Super dumb?

Anonymous, 19 Mar 2019I'm not guessing lesa than $500.I'm guessing take Pixel 3 price and remove $100. Or $150 if they're feeling generous.

(Card is only use to buy a Google service like YouTube Music. Can't be redeemed on G Suite, Drive, Drive One, YouTube TV, TV shows or movies on Play Movies, Games or apps in the Play Store)

Interesting. Google ordering an old 2017 design. Will this time manufactured by LG? HTC? Or perhaps from Micromax, Lava or Karbonn after the agreement with HTC? How overpriced will be this time? And how many hardware failures along the first year? We'll see soon.

4GB RAM is no longer sufficient for a smooth experience. There should at least 6GB RAM in PIxel Flagships as well as mid-rangers. The pixels keep getting slower and stuttery over time, facts that numerous Youtubers like MKBHD has confirmed.

                              Definitely is Premium Laggy Phone.
Despite of mid-ranger, the price would be similar to Huawei Non-pro version.

Dr. Chillo, 19 Mar 2019As long as HTC is the manufacturer behind of Google phones,... moreAlways amazes me that people forget, HTC are the reason that the Pixel devices have a feature at all, namely epic stills. HTC has, with the U11 and 12 delivered a great camera in each, with considerably better audio recording. HTC were closer than you think to have some epic devices. Had they opted for OLED and wireless charging and a headphones jack, the U11 would have been near perfect. It had a 4000mA battery and cameras to die for. The Pixels have only inherited the good camera, but the rest of the specs are mid ranged.

Just pick a pixel 2 from 2017 and it'll be better at pretty much everything with similar or maybe even less cost.
