The concept of Airpower is that you can place the devices anywhere on the mat! Current wireless chargers require precise positioning.
With airpower you wouldn't have to worry about it. You would just place all three devices anywhere on the mats and they would charge and you would get the information of the charging status on the iphone screen. Google how many coils the airpower mat had. There is nothing like this.

To cancel a product that's delayed for 18 months is pretty disappointing to be honest, especially for those who had high hopes for it to launch this year. But who knows, maybe it's because of other reasons, like the increased competition coming from other brands who had released similar products before, or some related hardware issues that made it impossible to launch now. I still do hope that they'll release it some time in the future though, despite them cancelling the project this time around. Of course, that is if it's priced well

Very ignorant thing to say, and assume. There is a starter that solved that problem and I bet others too and you can order their product, and they tell you how they solved it. And it's not complex solution.
Apple mentioned quality and I bet it has nothing to do with the spacing

All of you saying that this already exists and that apple couldn't copy, do you actually know what AirPower was? Please google what it was about and why it was innovative.
There is no such thing available yet by anyone.
And I think they cancelled it because of safety and longevity reasons.
The chinese might be able to produce it but it wouldn't be safe to use!

ANY management would be angry if their R&D department has promised a product as feasible to an extent where they start marketing it, only to find out they can not deliver. A nasty embarrassment making them the laughing stock of everyone outside their church.
Usually that is what you see on kickstarter level, not from the big players. So would not be surprised at all if several people was/will be thrown under the bus internally (excommunicated).

Any excuse to poke fun at th... moreIndeed, but it is inviting the mocking to announce a product before they were certain that it was actually feasible with the knowledge they got available. That is what we would expect could happen from a KickStarter company, not a large player.
So when they make such a blunder they deserve all the kicking, as did Slamsung with the burning hot note. And aPple on some of their other scandals.
