Everyone’s focused on the five cameras on the back and, frankly, so are we.

THE-TRUTH-REVEALER, 31 Mar 2019Fair Warning : To those people who are expecting amazing ca... morePresumably if the camera is capable of capturing that much detail Nokia could update the software so the automatic jpeg output is a lot better. Question is will they do it?

Sony makes great TVs and sound devuices but when comes to camera Quality Nikon, Cannon and many else are a lot better.
Dont compare Nokia 9 pureview with Sony here as Sony is obsolette brick.
Only P30 pro made better camera. Samsung S10 + is far worse.
I had dozens of nokia phones in my life except the ones made by Microsoft and with Windows.
And the Nokia were always outstanding. Tey can be better of course and they will be for now its a satisfaction they get updates regulary and as often as they could compared to other brands like Sony or Samsung etc which are barely updated and even a brand new S10+ wiull wait more than a year for first software update.

A slightly inferior chipset and hardware can be tolerated, due to the great camera. But after having used the phone for a week,I was really disappointed. The camera is good, but not that great. I think it will be the level similar to Sony's XZ Premium 2. I think the camera is much better than Nokia 8, but cannot won over those like S10+. In the meantime, I have to get used to the flawed fingerprint reader (I have disable it, finally).Battery is not that bad but not stellar. Total experience is not the great phone I have hoped for.
I have been a long time fan of Nokia, yet it's move after being under HMD is really disappointing. I believe Nokia phones should be much better.

Hey my boy. SD845 in real life performance is good as SD855 it can run anything ultra fast no matter wat you think. Many phones have bezzels and Noth this dont have any.
The finger print problem can be fixed with software update. Battery is big enough. My Moto X4 have 3000 mAh and SD630
. And can last 2 days after year and half bought from first day of use.
Price is great compared to other brands such as Sony or Apple or Samsung Huawei etc.
          So go hate somewhere else.

An 5 cameras +1 tof are trully amazing.
Its isthe king no matter what other people are saying.
Anyway having so many camers its only logical research and developement takes so long.
Set up everything to be absolutely perfect takes lot of time.

It looks nice but I'm tired of glass backs or phones in that size...

I miss the smartphones that were released in 2016. I'm perfectly happy with my often maligned but underrated LG G5 and Essential Phone.

yesornot, 01 Apr 2019Interesting opinion, but almost entirely consisting of fant... moreI looked into a raw file from Nokia 9 and I can say with confidence that there's no way the details are "pixel precise" as you claim. In broad daylight the noise level is low and dynamic range is fantastic, but the details aren't really that sharp and also quite uneven across the frame(details in shadows are lot softer than those in highlights, almost as if NR has been applied exclusively to the shadow area). In low light, you can just forget about it. Noise level is still fairly low but the stitching artifacts become very intrusive as exposure is raised, colors are very muted and the whole image is pretty much unusable. I got the samples from this website:
                http://allaboutwindowsphone.com/features/item/23437_RAW_musings_data_points_the_Lu.php

As for the JPEG processing it reminds me of the image processing from older Huawei phones, with visible edge enhancement and strong halo from image stitching errors. iPhone XS gives you consistently great details, color and dynamic range across all lighting conditions but in total darkness. And most importantly, if you want to edit dng files Adobe LR allows you to shoot in HDR RAW, which gives you near DSLR level dynamic range. Oh, and it works in handheld, too.

920 Pureview v2- Mystifyingly bright low-light picture from Optical Image Stabilization and longer shutter

Nokia 9 Pureview v3 - Unmatched High Dynamic Range exposure from Penta camera

3 different ideas.. 3 different results.. Nokia should combine all 3 to produce the penultimate camera phone - Pureview Ultima.. Or maybe there will be a Pureview v4 with different idea/approach..

Well maybe all of the users of SD845 right now should laugh at their device right now and all switch to SD855.. LOL look at the price dear.. SD855 is only marginally better.. This device's focus is on camera.. The SD855 version is coming later this with SD855 price.. I'd rather have this with SD845 and shoot pictures all day everyday than having SD855 and benchpress all day to impress.......no one. LOLOL

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2019Taiwan=ChinaIn terms of ethnicity? Yes but politically no. I doubt that two nations (or states if someone gets offended) that have unstable relationship for many years would gladly share intelligence that might threaten each other's security.

In the end you still cannot provide me some proof about your justifications other than just some nonsense conspiracy theory.

They had exclusive devices to China since they decided to partner with Foxconn who knows well enough regarding Chinese market. It's part of HMD's strategy, a good one since they definitely wouldn't want to start selling devices worldwide until they know that they can at least sell well in China. HMD sending data to China? Sounds like Huawei to me (which is a lame excuse).

                              Also IIRC Foxconn is Taiwanese.

A jumble of components from last year for what? Not worth. Sadly for Nokia even those "proclaiming the return of the king" only use void words, so zero sales. Attempts without foundation or money.

If they have no ties in China, why all this?

This should be capable of recording falling stars, just considering hw, but how far they did go, who knows. I could use the mode that uses covered lens in r/g/b to get better true color resolution than 808/1020.
It would also improve colors, by using high quality filters. Such a hole in usage capabilities.
