Galaxy S7 down to quarterly security updates, same as the new Galaxy A70

01 April 2019
Previously, the S7 got security patches monthly. But it's now three years old, so the demotion is understandable.

This means that the next updates will come in june, september and december and in the between months you're stuck with an unsafe device lovely.

Shinigami, 01 Apr 2019"Meanwhile Nokia is updating Nokia 1, 1 plus, 2.1, 3.1, 3.... moreIt is not really far. The Nokia 5 and 6 are only a year younger than the S7 but had introduction prices that were half the price of the S7, not the launch price but at the time the 5 and 6 were introduced.

I counted ~75 devices. Good luck to the update teams :P

On the flip side, for those who complains about the A70, you do have a point.

For all of you whining about the S7 not getting updates, please just quiet your mouth. What do you expect? It's freaking 3 YEARS OLD. You all know how Samsung deals with this, right? They don't update that much, and that's a compromise you have to make. But, it's still pretty ridiculous that you whine about a 3 years old product not getting updates.

Security update is secondary matter. We must receive android version jump at the earliest.
              More features makes us happy.

LG Superfan, 01 Apr 2019This A70 gets quarterly while last years get monthly thats ... moreI pointed the Galaxy View 2 previously.
And I assume the real star of the A 2019 series will be the A90. Only the "main" device in the series gets monthly updates.

Ivelin, 01 Apr 2019This is offensive. S7 divices are so smooth in everyday use... moreWhy is this offensive? Samsung makes money from selling new phones, not updating old ones. And everybody already knows how Samsung is with updates, so nobody should be surprised when they buy a Samsung.

This is offensive. S7 divices are so smooth in everyday use, powerful and full of life. But Samsung wants you to buy their new sets for 1000€ each. Sure they will cut their support for s7 and soon they will send you some killing update and say goodbye...
I said goodbye first as i bought myself iphone X
                              Android never again!

But this seems like an arbitrary choice

I believe this is based on user base , except for s9, s10, note8, note9.
Maybe A5 2017 and A8 2018 got many users so that becomes a priority.
