I have seen ads only in the file manager and security app, since we can disable every ads, I don't really care.
My region is set to France tho, IDK about other regions.

Chinese software... Chinese phones... great devices... but you want to break and jump on them because of stupid software and their hidden bloatware...
If money is not a problem... NEVER BUY a Chinese phone :D

Used their phones for a few years now - never seen a single ad!

I don't use their launcher or apps so perhaps thats why? Either way, they are easily avoided.

I'm sticking to Huawei, so far Xiaomi hasn't done anything to convince me that they're better than what I have and this news of their OS having ads doesnt help...

I got no ads but my neighbor got some, twice a week or something. My brother got intrusive ads but, not sure if it miui or one of dozen random app he installed.

Google services are all free but it's well known for the ads their economic strategy is all about ads

They have ads for sure but I only get them if I'm using apps from xiaomi/miui like their video player occasionally shows an ad in the gallery

But I think this is fair the company is selling Their phones with zero profit margins they need to make Their money back

yeah, its horrible to see it even built in system apps but, who cares...cheap devices are common use this method to get back some bucks from the buyers.

Just install a custom ROM and you are good, MIUI 10 is not the best looking UX, hope MIUI 11 gets better, and a decent DPI icons and system menus cause MIUI10 is just too zoomed.

So let me get this straight, while your using the phone, just maybe swiping through your app screen or messing about the in the settings, the operating system is showing you adds, banners and other things?

I got a Redmi for almost a year now but I didn't really notice any ads...

There's now a good reason why MIUI has ads because they need to get the money back from the millions of Pocophone F1 units. I think they're on a net loss because of how their Poco F1's price is almost the same as the manufacturer's cost so no extra profits for the advertisers' salaries and R&D.

The good thing with Xiaomi is good and cheap hardware, especially in the top models.
I did not notice the adds in MIUI, however, even if MIUI is pretty fast, I do not like much the looks. So I turned to Lineage. I had MI4C, MI5, MI Note 2, and MI Mix 2S, and they all fly once you put Lineage on them. My wife has the MI A2 and that one is very good price/preformance ratio.
It would be awesome if Xiaomi did Android One versions for their top phones, like the Mi Mix 3.

"Intrusive" is the key word here.
They may cut intrusive ads but add more "non-intrusive" ones onward.

Xiaomi admits that their UI have ads and are trying to improve it by removing intrusive ads but fans are still denying that there's no adds at all. SMH.

With their junk OS you are the product while you still had to pay for the phone. At least with Google everything is actually free when you are the product. Chinese OS = sadomasochism
