The Pro model completely overshadowed its sibling. Having the best still camera on the market drew a lot of attention to it.

      Kinda surprised that 31% people passed, even the S10 poll got "only" 24% passes. Goes to show that people are more interested in the Mate series than this

        lol. suddenly everyone are "photography experts" here by saying the quality is bad or good. pheww! feeling experts ehh? if you dont like the photo output, its simple people, your user preference just doesnt match up with it but that does not necesarily mean the photos are bad because someone else in the corner might actually like the output. this goes for every phone out there, may it be a huawei, samsung, pixel, apple, others. doesnt mean you dont like it, it doesnt mean its objectively bad! gosh...

          Since it's all about the camera, i have something even better. A cheap phone and a DSLR. It can make much better photos, it can do REAL 1:1 macros, not close-ups, it have REAL bokeh, i can use a REAL normal and REAL telephoto lenses, you can shoot with wide open aperture, you can shoot closed down, you can have wireless flashes positioned wherever you want, you can use softboxes ...
          For those who will ask "Can you make phone calls with a DSLR?", no i can't, i have my cheap phone for that. And for those who will say "A phone is always with you, so you can always make great photos", let me ask you, how many great photos did you make on your way to the market, or while playing basketball?

            Best phone camera? GSMArena had made a mini comparison inside their Nokia 9 PureView review, and the P30 Pro looks ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE!

              In a shop I compared photos taken with p30, p30 pro and my s7 edge. Mostly I took pictures of people and texts in distance, with normal camera, no zoom. I was really disappointed in huaweis cameras, for "best phone camera" their photos were really bad. Faces were all kinda mashed up, like somebody took the brush and painted the faces, but did it badly.

Sony is far behind Samsung, Huawei and even LG in terms of design/performance/reliability. I work for a ISP and the most faulty manufacturer brand we sell is Sony. Even looking at any new Sony devices you can see how far behind it is - thick bezels, large forhead/chin and the awful screen to body ratio.

                  I'll wait for Xperia 1, don't want to buy Huawei and Samsung because of the worst design languages and technology wise Sony is always ahead...

                    You always claiming about 4k video recording on MOBILE PHONE. Are you serious? No, really, who need 4k video recording at all, especially on phone??? It's unnecessary gimmick, nothing more.

                      I got the "vanilla" P30 myself and the phone is amazing. I work for a ISP and see/use different phones daily and I could've choose between a S10 or a iPhone Xr but I went for a P30 instead. The reason being - battery life with excellent performance. My colleagues who has the S10's always complain that they need to charge their phones once or twice a day or they must use battery saving modes to make it last. My P30 does 2 days easily without saving modes on normal to almost heavy usage. As for "the vanilla model sacrifices too many features without offering enough of a discount to make it worth it" I don't agree with, the only thing that it doesn't have is native wireless charging (but my phone did come with a FREE wireless case & wireless charger & Huawei Band 2 Pro). I hearty recommend the P30 for anyone who wants to buy a 600-700 dollar phone.

                        The best photography phone.

                          Its better to get Mate 20 Pro over vanilla P30 both are priced similar but Mate offers abit of extra like FaceID ultra wide angle with autofocus and stereo speakers
