Either way i am winer and he is lost,
Something like accidental damage is just a blame.
Either people are clumsy or careless but accidents are just mysteries same like the fire on Notre Dame in Paris this monday at 7pm. Someone was involved and this someone will never accepts his fail to audience because clumsy people are too stupid to accept their failures.

For a memory card and your phone issue all you could save on the card are basic files as photo and video maybe a cotact list if you have it on your card some documents but thats all.
For example if you play some game for several years your progress wont be saved on card but only on phone.
Phone card cant run any app and thus your progress will be lost as your phone is dead.
And there should be a lot more examples.

In other words in some rare caes card is nice to have but not needed. I cant say that about the jack. Ancient technologies should remain in history to make new technologies evolve.
Jacks hould be history long time ago.

Anonymous, 13 Apr 2019There is no logical reason for the jack to be history. He is just delusional and going off on a rant.

Apple removed headphone jack as a way of charging for bluetooth headphones thats all. It wasn't to save space considering the Note 9 has a headphone jack, sd card slot, s-pen.

Huawei obviously been copying alot of Apple ranging from EMUI, no sd card slot, and no headphone jack.

Jack is history its thing of past made bac... moreJack is NOT history because the finest earplugs come with a cable, like models from Sennheiser or custom earplugs adapted individually. Advantage of the cable: exclusive medium - no disruption of service in populated areas. Bluetooth is shared medium, and needs power to drive, a battery, which adds weight. Quality of transmission is another issue, there are different codecs in use: not all are HIFI. Furthermore, charging and using headset shall be possible at the same time. I do not even think about spending hundreds of Euro for a phone which lacks basic features.

A microSD slot is important to protect data on the phone. I went on travel and got serviced my phone by my partner who knew a reputable business to hand it to. They told me later on that they replaced the board: All internal memory lost, but I still had the data on the memory card. A phone which costs something shall have an extension slot even if not used by some customers who do not need this assurance of data.

My old Y500 huawei was drowned in toilet just for 3 seconds and phone screen died.
It was many years ago since then i had no water damage issues.
I had a customer here last summer with Sony Z3 phone which had a water resistance protection. He did 3 photo samples in a childs rubber pool and the phone got water damaged so much they were unable to fix it.
So as i said if you are lack of luck anything can drown.

I dropped mine in toilet once but quickly grabbed it and it worked fine no issues. My brother went holiday in Spain and took his phone into a pool and recorded a video above the water and then went under water for half a minute still recording video. That was 6 months ago and phone still working fine. Water resistance does help. A non water resistance phone wouldnt last few seconds in water and water would creep in instantly and fry the circuit board pretty quick

And by the way when the phone drops in sink its your luck it wont get water damaged just because you have a water resistance it doesnt means worst case scenario couldnt happens.
I run a phone shop here in Slovakia and i can tell you a countless of examples where a water resistant phone even the caterpillar were damaged by clearu pure water downed by an acident.

Flagship phones it's £10/£15 a month. Mid rangers £8/£10 a month and low range phones £3/£5 per month. I sell phone insurance in my work but most carriers in England charge similar prices. Waranty never covers water but only if phone encounters any faults.
Another thing is it is beneficial to have a water resistant phone as a drop in the sink would save you from claiming on insurance and paying the excess fee

I live in slovakia tiny country in heart of europe with just 5,5 millions of people about 500km from east to west and about 250 from south to north border.
And here nothing will cover water damage.
Not even a insurance. If your phone drop on a concrete and you break your screen your insurance for a lot of money depends on device but phones like P30 pro or S10+ cost around 10-20 bucks i mean euros per month for insurance. So if drops on concrete you can claims for repair fr free because you have your insurance but when you drown your phone in water nobody will give you a new device just because of your clumsyness.

In phones like Energizer or Oukitel K10 which have much more than 10k mAh wireless charging have use but here i dont see any point.
IP protection is just thing of money. Since no warranty cover water damage everybody paying extra bucks for useless feature which if you have or dont have makes no difference. Anyway IP protection protects only from contats with basic water cleansed out of any soap mud sweetenes like coke or tea etc.
You want a things noone care for.
Expendable memory is another useless thing because the fact if you have 64GB or more you have all the space you need and anything like OTG can solve the rest.

About the LG i cant comment. In US their sales are about 11% of all phones.
In rest of the wrold is less than 8% and on average is about 5,5 up to 6% which is dead.
Only problem is this company is so rich they just dont care and supporting things which doesnt makes any profit or just the bare one.

Jack is a histoy as it always should be.
USB 2.0 is fine as long as it uses warp charge or dash charge which oneplus is remarkable for.
Micro SD in past was nice to have in present 64GB disk space is more than enough for 90% of the planet. I dont see the point adding SD card to the phones with memory of 64 or above.
Since oneplus 5 the phone was splash resistant. By the way no warranty cover water damage so its useless to have IP certification. By the way phone is resistant only to clear water noot to spoiled one by for example soap mud or juice etc.
