Counterpoint: Apple dominates premium smartphone market, OnePlus enters top 5

16 April 2019
Apple and Samsung still dominate but new entrants are making their presence felt.

Looks like Apple is LMAO all the way to the bank. Don’t forget Apple has 80% of the $800+ segment that is by far the most profitable segment that any brand is dying to break through.

Anonymous, 16 Apr 2019OnePlus (6T, regular 7) kills Samsung, crApple and top Huaw... moreWith only 2% of that cake and with a growth far below its stepbrother Oppo ... the only thing that OnePlus can kill are a few flies for dinner. Now that the wow flagship killer effect and fooled customers is gone, we will see if that youtube paid reviewers and tv cheat marketing will serve for enough sales or disappear of that list in the next report.

mrleft, 16 Apr 2019"Dominates" is a nice way of framing "lost 7% of the market... moreBut it doesn't change the fact that they are far ahead still.

mrleft, 16 Apr 2019"Dominates" is a nice way of framing "lost 7% of the market... moreApple have over two times bigger share than Samsung, what else you would call that than domination?

"Dominates" is a nice way of framing "lost 7% of the market share" in a growing market. LMAO

OnePlus (6T, regular 7) kills Samsung, crApple and top Huaweis simply by NOT costing 1000-1200 :)

while also offering blazing fast speeds, excellent OS and superb battery life

I expect a big increase in price of the OnePlus phones profiting the 5G and Pro, that includes the base one too. No sure how they'll justify the lacking of stereo speakers, IP68, expandable memory, FM radio, audio jack, wireless charging and more versatile cameras with better software processing. Too many lacks for the expected increase in prices. The leaks about the upcoming press posters and motto is the same as before, speed... the typical i open the app 0.2 seconds faster...

MrKnowItAll, 16 Apr 2019Quite true sadly. OnePlus is no longer the self proclaimed ... moreI agree, they become more expensive every generation. The first OnePlus was a real flagship killer, especially with what you got for that price compared to the expensive flagships of other companies. Now they still are flagship killers in my opinion, but for a way more premium pricetag.

MrKnowItAll, 16 Apr 2019Quite true sadly. OnePlus is no longer the self proclaimed ... moreWhen you compare them to Samsung/Pixel, OnePlus is still giving a better bang for the buck. But yeah, their increasing prices makes room for the likes of Pocofone F1 to be the new flagship killer.

Stefan DS, 16 Apr 2019One+ - midranger. NO FLAGSHIP here NO flagship camera ... ... moreOnePlus only lacks wireless charging otherwise it is super good on par with any flagships including iPhones. It is splash resistance and it just didn't want to pay for certification. Camera is too good. It is AMOLED, has good software support, it has ISFR. So far value for money. Obviously, they can't keep increasing prices. Their SoC, RAM, Storage etc... supercede iPhones, sometimes performance as well

Rex Tech, 16 Apr 2019OnePLus with it's few % should should thank all the Tech Yo... moreExactly what I’m thinking. Oneplus is so overrated, just like the Pixels. All the tech Youtubers are in love with these 2 brands.

Rex Tech, 16 Apr 2019OnePLus with it's few % should should thank all the Tech Yo... moreQuite true sadly. OnePlus is no longer the self proclaimed "flagship killer". Their phones don't have that oomph factor anymore and they have steadily increased the prices of their phones as well.

OnePLus with it's few % should should thank all the Tech Youtubers that were payed to promote the "500$ Flagship killer clickbaits" and even tech yt giants like Unbox T,Marques B and others. If it wasn't for those tech youtubers nobody would have bought their product.
On a side note.OnePlus 6T McLaren here costs 100$ less than Samsung S10 (Yes S10,not 10e) and offers 1/5 of what Samsung offers. So much for being affordable lol.

It's pretty sad the top 5 list is basically the most advertised focused companies out there rather than true quality. We live in a World where people pick Advertising over Quality.

One+ - midranger. NO FLAGSHIP here
                              NO flagship camera ...
NO 2k screen . NO stereo speakers. NO wireless charging. NO ip68.
NO headphone jack. NO ir blaster .
Just a simple midranger extremely well marketing
