How can some people here buy in on "first generation" story?? So if I am a tech nerd or whatever we call that, and I want the newest tech, I have to pay for the most expensive phone. Then I get the "first generation" phone for 2000+$ which doesn't even work and has bugs, and then I still have to pay for 2nd or 3rd generation??? They should build it properly from the first generation. Just don't buy it....

that's why I pay respect to early adopters of any new tech, I don't have that kind of bravery to buy 1st generation of a product

Hildr, 18 Apr 2019The phone is not done to be affordable for your average joe... moreMan but Samsung showed what technology can do so far with Note 7 and Now it showed again with breakable foldable phones with nice bulges.
They showed it with in display screen finger rpint which does not work with screen protector.
They did it with wireless charging whichh in case of Samsung charging one device to deplete another is just like buying diet water because regular one have too much calories.
Its like when made a curved screens starting with S6 edge which was resistant to screen protector which has been difficult to put and push out all air bubbles.
                And with many else.
Companies makes useful technology for people ask them what they want and what they bneed but Samsung was always different they sees only money create much more than market needs or asks for create technologies which noone wish for and then increase its RD cost into the final price of every product. Thuus M20 in India cost 126 euros and european price is 220.
Thus A800 cost 650 euros for an average midranger where for same price i can have S9 which cost 400 bucks brand new or Mate 20 pro which is much better,
Even Oneplus 7 pro will cost same price and many more brands which sells a lot better device cheaper.

Say hello to Huawei Mate X.

It's funny how Samsung is now behaving like Chinese companies from a few years ago - releasing products with brand new(albeit half baked) ideas in a rush so that they can be the first one to introduce the features in the market, ending up falling flat on its face. Luckily the design defects were revealed before Samsung starts selling the actual product to consumer, so at least they can make a change to the design in order to mitigate the issues or even delay the release if the issues were really unfixable. Hopefully Samsung(and Huawei) will learn from their mistake and put more effort on improving the design of their future foldable phones..

Looks like Samsung's phone business is going to fold.

(just kidding, I hope foldable phones are successful, I want reasonably priced foldable midrangers to appear so that I can get one)

It's not an excuse or justification, but a reality. First gen products are largely just an attempt to create for the sake of creating; they cost a lot to create and have a low return on investment because most people will be cautious about them. If you don't understand that, it's not the fault of anyone else or the producer of the product, it's just that the product isn't for you, and that's fine. It's not "for" 99% of the population.
