how can Google be evil and want to make money from stolen patents when they give Android to use for free , this is why Microsoft is asking money from manufacturers , not from Google directly !!!

Slim, 12 Jan 2012What MS patent product runs on Android or Google Chrome OS.... moreIn basic terms, the patents in question relate to file systems. If you want your Android phone to plug into a Windows PC and be able to communicate/file swap, you have to use file systems developed by Microsoft for Windows - think FAT32/NTFS.

No body forces Android to be able to do this, just most customers expect their mobile to talk to their PC, so it is hugely beneficial to incorporate it. Microsoft spent a lot of time and money developing their file systems.

If Android wants the benefits, they have to pay the royalties. Sounds pretty fair doesn't it?

(Side note, Apple also has a cross-patent licensing agreement with Microsoft, so iProducts are covered too)

[deleted post]It's the other way around. Google sucks and Nokia rocks! Google could not innovate on its own without stealing ideas from MS, Nokia and Apple. The Android OEMs deserves to get sued and Google is the true evil here. Stealing ideas and calling it "innovation" is what Google does. That evil company is nothing without stealing ideas.

OEM's should stop selling phones with Android
pre-installed. Sell it without android and let users install it later. Just make it compatable with Android..

Let vendors help users install the OS..!!!

This suing business will be stopped..

It is google who's evil and thought they can get away stealing patents and calling it "innovation". It is just right that these manufacturers pay for licensing for using technologies and ideas by Microsoft. I do hope Nokia recovers fast and starts suing these Android OEMs for stolen patents. Google needs to be stopped and brought down.

I hear a lot that WP7 is failed Phone OS. I believe the issue that the OS is not mature enough and mostly because the are not enough handsets on the market with it.
Personally I think this deal is a very good news for us, the end subscribers. This means basically that Microsoft will be motivated to get a mature OS, and more importantly, competitive with the Android and iOS. And even if they will fail, they will push Google and Apple to improve theirs.

Bring it on! this is a WIN situation for me! Long live the competition and looking forward to next handsets in the next 2-3 years.

MS is showing level of Bankruptcy in taking Android Head -On.
So taking the recourse to being a SHYLOCK.
It is the poor Android using customer whose pound of flesh is being sought by MS.

Microsoft know that WP7 is so bad that they need to legally force Samsung and HTC... to actually sell phones with Microsoft WP7, "require them to push out Windows Phone devices and pay for promotion and marketing of the OS"! Microsoft even pay a lot, gigantic amount, of money to Nokia so that they could not resist choosing the very bad WP7, and not Android or MeeGo!
I think many of the positive reviewers and "trolls" are actually paid by Microsoft to say how "good" the bad WP7 is!
Microsoft, and now their puppet Nokia, and Apple are both "evil" and customers should not be fooled to buy their bad products!

MS has been trying to build a mobile OS for decades, It's always been a failure for casual users (usable for commercial enterprises such as point of Sale, medical applications). IOS? it's not going to happen as Apple has never mass marketed any of there software. We've seen the pnone HW manufacture's home grown OS's fail one by one. Things will remain this way until the mobile OS's requirements stabilize (changing way too fast).
