Just found an 2007 Alfa Romeo 159 1.9JTDm,with 250k km on the clock,and it's a runner..for the same €€...and it doesn't fold..hopefully...:)

Because trendy people are inherently dumb. Sure some of them argue that you need to support 1st gen tech before the 2nd gets better. Well guess what? It's the companies/OEMs who are the ones spending tens of millions to BILLIONS to bring these to market WITHOUT caring if it's a "beta" product or not. No smart consumer should ever be obligated to return the favour to offset said costs no matter what.
Doesn't matter if it's Samsung or Apple, they're all the same. NO ONE asked for a notched iPhone X but they did it anyway, quickly (albeit temporarily) stopped the 1st gen production before resuming past XS/Max just so they'd sort out the kinks. Same thing. Early X adopters got burnt in the process with crappy batt life etc. I got iPhone using friends who're just fed up and traded their X off for an 8/Plus instead because they'd rather not get shafted by the notched models' prices just because.
And this Fold? lol I laughed so hard when a lot of mobile tech "experts" try their level best to help Samsung justify the 2 grand price tag when there's simply none. Enjoy that broken screen while you're at it.

With the prices of capable smartphones raging from 300 to 2000 its funny you cannot compare it even to 2 year investment, its not just in my country but in all countries around I can buy a car for 500, even if it not last long, in euros I mean.

You have cheap cars over there. I just looked for that ford and the cheapest I could find was 3.900€. My Octavia from 2004 costed 2.500€, so you could get a 10 years newer car in your country.

In xiaomi world it would be non-foldable, foldable and tablet, at least on rumors of foldable future pricing. Old flagship, all wearables and premium repro.
Or some entry level phone, gaming PC and dslr. There is so much options... Car is also one of them, it could come as gsm device as well...

Although I could get an iPad Pro and save some, I would prefer to keep the money. My iPad Air2 is still serving me so well and to be honest it has better apps than the Fold in tablet format. My iPhone 8 Plus is still a very good phone. My 8 years old Mac is still doing its job well and speedy. And although I could upgrade the ram and get a SSD it’s still fast enough as it is. 2000 dollars in the bank!!!
