Google will add ‘auto-delete’ option to location history feature

If you’re torn about actually using the location history feature, Google is willing to make a compromise with your data.

You are no one important. Don't bother about hiding your tracks.. your not worth getting spied on. So what if they know where you took your mom for dinner??
Who cares?? Unless you are up to something shady, or bad. The people who are most vocal about these "security" or privacy issues are doing shady stuff.. that they want to hide. Govt have the right to those information and save guard its people!
Anyway, delete maybe just setting a flag in a database to hide it.. the data.. footprints are still there. Anything, programmed with an undo feature.. will mean this is there.

Of course, the data is en massed routed through NSA right from the start, deleting history wont make a single change.
