OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro won't have an IP rating for water and dust resistance because it's expensive

OP7 should cost around $500 or also include 3.5 mm Jack with DAC, wide-lens camera, wireless charging or faster wire charging.
OP7 Pro should cost around $650 or also include what OP7 should plus sd card slot or ip68.

Who cares, still its not covered under warranty, you take the water damage phone to service centre, they make you read warranty policy. Company like Apple charge you 50% for the new device overall. Basically its a business they sell you saying its IP certified but they don't cover it under warranty, just in case something goes wrong. So, dont fool yourselves with IP Rating. & Oneplus tend to make joke of IP rating every year for the same reason.

Oneplus doesn't include IP ratings because it's too expensive, but their phones aren't cheap anymore.
If OP7 cost $500 and OP7 Pro $600 it would be OK, but they will price it much higher...

OnePlus 7 Pro is expected to be priced around $750. For that price you could get a brand new S10e or a iPhone XR (both of which have IP certifications).
So OnePlus can stop with their BS excuses. The company is spending millions on ads & photoshoots, but cheapening out on spending on IP certification. Talk about incompetence.

Foxconn aka "nokia" doesn't spend money for Qualcomm Hehagon DSP library support so camera app is so slowly. BBK aka 1+ doesn't spend money for IP ratings certification.

Even i have been buying IP rated phones, never were cmpletely under water. Except one phone that deop off in river, but that was not planned :))) The pgone had no water rating and still works today

Syn, 04 May 2019U seem to be someone who has neither used a One Plus nor a ... moreMy immediate family had 3 OP devices and all plagued with lots of software bugs ( all 3 had same issues). So everyday I was the one who had to do hands on fire fighting for the handsets. So don't ask about my hands on experience.
Regarding Pixels, of those 3 OP, 2 were replaced by Pixel 2 and one by Moto Z2. Till date no issues whatsoever.
So it's ok if you love OP phones, but be honest enough to accept others experience too. Regarding your love for OP, it's purely out of the price tag it was available. Let's see if same happens with OP 7 series.

If its $700 it should be ip rated cost is no excuse here and water damage should be covered by warranty for ip rated phones

Plus I successfully got a claim for water damage on a water resistant phone.
If you don't have a governmental customer protection office or similar, then you should demand one is created. I tell you those things work and bad OEMs think twice before wasting time in court (the complainant doesn't have to pay and it's usually done quickly. But dispatching a lawyer, experts and spokespersons is very expensive and time consuming for the company)
But if your consumer protection laws are weak or non-existent, I strongly recommend you take action as well.
