Samsung is working on an under-display camera solution, aiming for the coveted all-display phone design

Apparently the new tech will share quite a few similarities with under-display fingerprint readers.

ali, 05 May 2019why do we need this?. what's wrong with having a top bezel?... moreLack of human inovation and artificial intelligence makes Korean producers look for miniature, combination of old technologies into all purpose things.

realitychecker, 05 May 2019this is the ENDGAME! haha. 3-piece foldable is the end game. Phone sized tablets (phablets) are stupid. 3-piece foldable tablets will finally kill phones and phablets forever and finally we will be all-tablets baby!

Basically a 10 inch tablet that gets folded to a 6inch bezeless device so that to be easier to carry/do quick things on. Westworld style. *That's* the final form, nothing to improve after it, at least on the basic structure of the device. Probably sell foldable keyboards too so that you'd have pocketable laptops, but that -again- changes nothing on the basic design. I believe it will be the design that will remain almost unchanged for decades "the foldable tablet".

ali, 05 May 2019why do we need this?. what's wrong with having a top bezel?... moreNeed no. Nobody needs any of it. It is one million times better than any sort of alternative though any way you look at it. Unless you are one of those weird people thinking that phones are not big enough and you want to make them even bigger by adding 1-2cm worth of bezel.

IMO phones are problematically big. The bezeless trend at least gives them a chance to get smaller all the while holding on to a big screen. Reverting bezels means that your phone is needlessly bog, the end

ali, 05 May 2019why do we need this?. what's wrong with having a top bezel?... moreits called evolution, thats how phones and everything worldwide moves forward, first we had the rediculous notch, which most companies tried then most moved beyond because it looks dumb, then cam the drops and now the hole punch, the next evolution is under screen, a full screen device with under screen tech and still be waterproofed will be a delight to use

No one seems to be addressing the issue that if you have a under display camera then you are waiving your right to have absolutely no privacy at all...

As bezel built-in, notched, hole and pop-up cameras can always be covered by a foreign object while it will be impossible to block the view of an under display camera as you will sacrifice your display screen estate...

The dawn of mass surveillance is nearing so fast...poor humanity.

why do we need this?. what's wrong with having a top bezel?. seems is better to have a whole on the screen than having a small bezel to place the selfie camera and other sensors.
                        I don't see the point.

I doubt the image quality of an under-screen cam. I'd prefer the dual-screen solution. ZTE and vivo should keep working on them.
