16mm = Isocell
52mm = Isocell
Selfie = Isocell
All cameras of 10 and L3 are isocell.
Main camera of 10+ is Exmor, the tele and selfie are Isocell.
Probably to cut costs.

So,epne reliable told me HMD amd Huawei do not use Zeiss and Leica lenses.
Both just pay to have their names on it.

that aside, here some other albeit unrelated to article but I feel these regrets has more ground than not:
- They shouldn't have put out so many models each year. Sony product line seems to aim for upper midrange to high end of the spectrum, they wanted to go head-to-head with the flagships of Apple and Samsung. So why would they even put attention to anywhere lower than midrange, that I don't understand. This way maybe we will see more midrange with IP certification if Sony go with a full line up of only IP rated devices (their midrange Xperia M4 has IP rating). Samsung's Galaxy A8 will be missed, too.
- Looking at their insistence on keeping older aesthetics in terms of phone design, bezel-wise, Sony is/was the last remaining few who cared about where the user could place his/her blood-veined fingers in the front of the device, not afraid of unintentionally stimulating the phone touchscreen. Sony should've marketed their ample-bezeled phones as an alternative to every other manufacturers who makes "bezel-wise" phones (can't safely use the phone without some sort of 3rd party holding method such as the swiveling ring on the back, or a table, but maybe that's just me, who had to use one of those things that lack much-needed bezels).
- Xperia phones should come with more RAM/Internal Storage options for a few good devices, not just 1 or 2 options for too many device lineups. Remember when they launched their "flagship" with 3GB Ram or 16/32Gb internal where other brands offered way more than that? They did good with color options tho, can't hurt to have more options there either.
- About the warranty on waterproofing fiasco, something Samsung did recently reminded me of that. The Galaxy Fold. Unknowing users peeled off the "screen protector" because lack of socialising on Samsung's part. Sony should've said, in bigger fonts, "wash your device under non-chlorinated tap water", as early as Xperia Z. But that's obvious. As obvious as their lack of marketing compared to other brands... but I hate how marketing budget rises the phone costs, so...

I think I'll buy Xperia 1 when it comes in stores. That tall display is gorgeous!
I was planning to upgrade my S8+ to S10+, but the update system with Samsung is very lazy. I'm still on March security patch..
Sony is number one when it comes to updates and battery life!

I can read some comments about Sony going Zeiss while others go for Sony.
But Zeiss with the 1 only provides the lens. The main sensor is a Sony one, the IMX445 from what I've seen. Camera works mainly with 2 physical parts, the sensor and the lens.
Sony provides most of the sensors in the smartphone market, but the lens is up to the manufacturer. That's why having a good sensor is only one part of the equation, because if the lens is bad...

Okay, let's throw some "what ifs" out there.
What if the reason Sony never tried as hard as other manufacturers in terms of software optimization for their cameras on their phones, is because the fact that those other manufacturers uses the same hardware part so Sony fears their unrevealed software tech secrets for their own phone's camera could be stolen intellectually by those other manufactures. What if they can't find a way to secure the secret tech before launching them so they only applies that tech for their non-phone cameras.

The lenses used are just from Carl Zeiss, just as Huawei is using Sony sensors but Leica lenses.

It's not 4k+ it's just 4k 21:9. It's already confirmed to be isocell sensors for the tele and sw cams. Only the main cam sensor is by Sony.

sony and zeiss are partner for long time to make great quality lens
and what article mention is about possible of lens from zeis...
and also delay due the trouble/not optimized camera system is proof they want to up their play.

I bought a U11+ when it was released (Dec 2017) and until today I have not received a single update. The phone still has security parch from December 2017. They released a new flagship and never, never updated the software. I used to like them as a company which is why I bought it, now I just hope that company disappears.

But maybe it's also possible that they simply didn't have enough manufacturing capacity for their own, custom-made sensors. After all, since everyone else uses Sony's modules, they might rather pay Zeiss who they cooperate with anyway instead of using their own capacities, which might cut the profits from the SC division in the end...
