But they also do use their own sensor.
Care to answer why other brand can't get the same sensor as soon as Samsung gets it from Sony and also which phone used DUAL pixel AF after Samsung also mention how long after ?
I have no proof on this. But I think these sensors are Samsung designed.
And most galaxy s10 series(probably all) used ISOCELL main sensor. Here https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s10/help/galaxy-s10-sony-sensors-t3916758/page2 .
It was also mentioned in a article on notebookcheck. But can't remember in which article.

Sony may have taken the design from Samsung.
Because Samsung was the only brand to use DPAF in 2016 with S7 and no other brand got their hands on that sensor in 2016.
Some news suggest that S10 went with all ISOCELL main sensor for both SD and exynos version.

I don... moreAs far as i know, iphone using Sony Exmor sensor. Even Samsung Galaxy S6 to S10 using Sony sensor (only Sony has Dual-Pixel tech on a smartphone camera sensor). Huawei always use Sony sensor on all its focal length.

Dead on arrival, while they announicng it, other companies just delivers latest tech with better price tag. Who would care about 4k on tiny screen, which does not make any difference for your eye? I bet cameras will be avarage too as usual from Sony :)

Just gonna say since you mentioned XZ1, that's the closest runner up (specifically XZ1 and XZ1 Compact) in my list when I was hunting for a new phone (for 2019 onwards). I ended up with the Pocophone F1, after many and long considerations. Mainly thanks to the faster SoC and bigger screen and its price. If not for their outdated micro-USB ports and suspiciously huge marketing budget of this mainly midrange devices, several Vivo and Oppo devices would also competes very fiercely on my list... I like their style of water drop notch.
I fell in love with how Sony kept generous amount of bezels on their phones. XZ1 Compact has that one-handed manageable size, cool 720p, chunky square corners equals to secure grip on that matte plastic frame (that may seem thick to some, but I wouldn't mind even more thickness by a couple millimeters in exchange for more battery capacity), non-existent antenna lines. Side-mounted fps.
XZ1 has a bigger screen that makes more sense for multimedia consumption than the Compact, but it's bigger sibling doesn't have much advantage compares to Compact imo.
one part from Gsma review worries me : "For one, Sony is still sticking with a hybrid design for its dual SIM variants. A dedicated microSD slot would be greatly appreciated. And we don't think Sony's two-part cradle is good with a launcher that restarts every time you pull out the SIM - so everytime you use the microSD card, the XZ1 restarts."
And the navigation buttons would be black when using most apps, except video player and homescreen. Since it's on the screen, it better be transparent or hides away when not needed imo.
And if I remember correctly, on Sony devices the SD card is reserved for multimedia only, no apps data, which is a bummer.
Lastly, the XZ1 although it has metal housing made of a single metal sheet, those quirky non-symmetrical antenna lines ticks my OCD even before I seen it with my own eyes.
I couldn't find both either of these otherwise amazing Sony phones in retail shops in my area. Another nail to the coffin.

enthusiast- a person who is very interested in a particular activity or subject.
don't flatter and call yourself an xperia fan, because clearly you are not. again, fans will never have any of their brand's competition. you could move on to another brand, like i was an xperia fan for 3 years, then moved on to samsung for 5 years, and now am neither but currently an enthusiast of razer and xiaomi. yes, there are qualifications to be called a fan- it has to be that at the time of your fascination for a particular brand there's nothing else for you but that same brand. now i realized fanaticism is rather immature, so i have grown into an enthusiast instead.
