08 May 2019
This is a couple of months ahead of schedule, based on how long it took Oreo to cross the 10% mark.

2.5B android devices, 7.5M (0.3%) still running Android Gingerbread.

    > "According to this chart gingerbread is on more devices than IOS on apple phones."

Apple sold nearly 5 times as many phones *just last quarter* as there are devices - of any type - currently running Gingerbread. It baffles me that you are having trouble with this.

To be frank, anything below Gingerbread is not worth anyone's time anymore really.

Google's 2.5B _devices_ include Android tablets, set-top boxes, digital Kiosks, Android cameras, ...anything that touched the Play store (ex. checking for app updates).

I'm only aware of 3 device types that run iOS: iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches. Apple watches, laptops/desktops, AppleTVs, and other iPod models all have their own OS's.

This version-barfing, where there's a new major version each year, and each version is only supported for 1 year, 2 at most, is not good.

It forces people to upgrade and buy new things all the time, and it affects other major software as well not just Android.

Mystic21, 08 May 2019One of the many reasons why IOS is soo.. ahead of Android. Ahead yes haha.
                                      Slowing older devices via updates.
Without bloatware like Itunes you cnt even copy files to your windows PC and many else.
                                      No quickcharge.
Slow charging fast battery draining no support for Memory cards.
Limited memory in phone, limited disk space.
                                      Grats IOS is definitely better.
                                      Better in everything worst.
