Putting the Pie in pie chart: Android 9 now on over 10% of devices

08 May 2019
This is a couple of months ahead of schedule, based on how long it took Oreo to cross the 10% mark.

"PS. Months ago, Gingerbread was at 0.2% and now it’s at 0.3%. We’re starting to think that it’s immortal."

          - HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Pie is my favorite Android version of all-time. People can bash it but I love the gesture swipes. I use Nova Launcher Prime and I don't have that awkward long swipe up for the drawer. I actually don't have a drawer anymore. I keep many apps hidden.

I'm getting a little afraid of Android Q. I have used All-In-One Gesture app for years (2013-2015) and swiping from the sides is going to be awkward for certain menus that get pulled out. The Chase app for example has one on the left.

There's a chance more Android users will start really missing that back button near the bottom left. I doubt many can adjust to that side swiping. I did many years ago and then after a couple of years, went back the normal way.

Beware of the new gesture swipes on Q. It might actually make the experience for novices even worse than what Google did with Pie.
