Putting the Pie in pie chart: Android 9 now on over 10% of devices

08 May 2019
This is a couple of months ahead of schedule, based on how long it took Oreo to cross the 10% mark.

Alien , 09 May 2019If you don't want any issues / bugs with Android Pie, first... moreYes, I also should get a PhD in software engineering since I have a lot of time in tinkering with smartphone. While at it should just design a new OS that is more perfect than android. Not a lot of work at all. Thanks buddy. See ya again after I'm a billionaire.

Luxor, 08 May 2019My pie is buggy. Sticking to Oreo diet for now. If you don't want any issues / bugs with Android Pie, first make a complete backup, then update to Pie, then reboot into recovery mode and hard reset the phone (this will reset the phone to factory settings but with the update installed).
I also highly recommend studying adb shell commands to disable/uninstall bloatware apps.

      adb shell
      pm disable-user --user 0 com. package.example
pm uninstall --user 0 com. package.example

Pie will be the last version to offer that back button.

Nougat 7.0 and 7.1 has cumulative 19% share & Oreo 8.0 and 8.1 has cumulative 28% share. Many the new handsets bought with Nougat pre-installed were updated to Oreo but never got further update. Some the new handsets bought with Oreo pre-installed are not yet updated to Pie. Now Google will launch Q in couple of months.
Not sure, what happened to Project Treble with Oreo 8.0. It was suppose to make the update cycle faster than earlier. Unless Google directly updates all old OS automatically bypassing skins from OEMs, the share of OS will never see any improvements. If Microsoft can directly update Windows OS on all OEMs with bloatewares pre-installed, why Google can't do it? For Google, there is really no need to launch NEW OS version every year. They can launch new OS every 3 years just like Microsoft.

Twice a week I get an update notification for my P20 Pro to go from Oreo 8.1 to Pie 9.0 and after reading the issues with all Pie updates I hit the Cancel update button. So, why update if it messes the phone? If it works, don't fix it, right?

Android Q could very well make many users miss that back button.

Lets all just buy one 2.3, 4.0.3/4.0.4 and 4.3 device just to keep them up, for real. 4.0 is usable, 2.3 not so much, mainly old APK's crash, e.g. Insta,

ICS was underrated and short lived :( Same with 4.3 Jelly Bean.

Wow, 4.3 Jelly Bean really only ended up on a few phones, mainly the Xperia SP, M etc.

                            LOL, its tragic.

Pie update on Samsung A7 2018 is the worst update much better to stick with the stock Oreo.

                                      - some features disable
                                      - quality of the camera downgraded
                                      - pop out full screen ads.
