Weekly poll: Are the new Pixel 3a and 3a XL any good?

12 May 2019
At nearly half the launch price of the original Pixel 3 duo, these offer the same flagship camera. And 3.5mm headphone jacks too!

Vulpecula, 12 May 2019Agreed. 64GB with SD card slots would be acceptable, but go... moreAndroid wil become step by step an IOS system. They will have control over your data in the future. If it weren't for the chinese it would be closed right now. Do you want more space, pay for an even more expensive device or pay the monthly fee for the cloud services.

And then they probably get some tariff burden (and distributor's margin if the bulk order discount is not enough) added on the way from factory to India customers... Nevertheless, 570 is still quite much - I agree.

If you don't like in India (like seemingly 3/4 of GSMArena readers do) or China, this is great. As an iPhone 7 user, the only thing I would like an upgrade is the camera, everything else is still great and more than sufficient in 2019. After installing LineageOS 16 on my Xperia Z1 Compact, I can say the same thing about that phone.

Even pixel 3a costs more than oneplus 6t in india. I don't think google was thoughtful for asia

DroidBoye, 12 May 2019Online markets has LG V30, Samsung [S8, S9, Note 8], and ot... moreIt's always strange to see how the fans of small/er phones (let's talk iPhone8/Galaxy A3 2017/Lumia 730 and smaller) are being dismissed as a marginal target audience. And yet the Android market keeps being fragmented in every other aspect - there are phones with great performance/price ratio, premium materials phones, cheap phones, phones shooting great pictures, phones with ridiculous amount of cameras, great-battery-life phones, gaming phones, phones with timely updates, phones bigger than two other phones, PROBABLY even folding phones... And these all have their niche apparently. So why do the manufacturers refuse so stubbornly to make something pocketable with reasonable performance and software support again? :P

Don't care about the bezels, so I actually like that design. But still too pricey. 479$? Price for pixel 3 series 'with 3.5mm jacks', not 3a.

$570 in India for 64gb and single sim
                Not great at all...

Indian prices are ridiculous. I dunno why 3a costs $570 while the US price is $400 and 3a xl costs $623 while the US price is $470 only. Looks like Google is copying Apple in pricing strategy.

Why the article has today's date?

It's good but over priced. Also no 128gb option. 64gb is just sad. Clearly they are getting greedy for people to sign up for cloud services

Online markets has LG V30, Samsung [S8, S9, Note 8], and others with lower or just slightly higher prices then the Pixel 3A.

You can get the Honor View 20 for the same price as the 3a and less than the XL. These are not competitive enough
