Anonymous, 13 May 2019The sensor of Xperia 1 is just a smaller version of the imx... moreIn theory it has all that. In practice it's not all that. Most of their devices don't focus quite as fast, it's always clear the lack of ois took its toll, and their exposure/ dynamic range has been behind for quite some time.

Looking forward to if this RYYB sensor technology is going to expand develop further.I was very happy with the camera in my old P10, but the phone had other issues, that is keeping my from buying a Huawei phone anytime soon.

The sensor of Xperia 1 is just a smaller version of the imx400. I believe it is 1/2.6" to make sure all the three modules end up same thickness. Note that devices with larger sensors use smaller 8MP telephoto (1/4" or smaller"

Sensors like imx586 and imx650 are not stacked like 400/445. Without the DRAM the device would lose ability to do:

            - Predective capture with AF and Full resolution (Top Shot of Pixel 3 cannot)
            - Eye AF with Autofocus and autoexposure
            - 4K24 HDR hybrig log gamma (much more data than HDR10)
            - true super slow motion
            - burst with AF

The other sensors are just bigger, not more advanced.
And even using manual mode , P30 Pro still has some issues with White Balance.

Sony Imaging is working on something new for Xperia, but was not ready for 1.
Maybe it shows up in september, or they save for february.

LOL. Your article is so lacking in information that you just mentioned the green filters were replaced with yellow filters and that was it.

Mate 20 Pro ownwer, 13 May 2019Lol Samsung sinking and losing out overall smart phone mark... moreThe losers aren't companies, the losers are always customers - don't keep up brand loyalty, keep up self consciousness.

Excalibur, 13 May 2019If your mate 20 pro is as good as day 1, ask me about my p9... morewow big words, "mate" lolols. cant say the same for now about the "lightyears ahead" tho since im a first time huawei user. maybe after 1-2 years. tho i must say, that the very big difference i noticed since coming from samsung is i no longer have the predicament of battery life issues and lags. being a fan of sammy, its always my gripe that my devices(all flagships mind you) dont have the same smoothness as day 1 after 6-12+ months of use(maybe coz of updates?, i dun really know) but last year, my colleague introduced to huawei mate series and so here i am "mate". lolols.

Lots of people are simply assuming that the RYYB sensor sucks at reproducing green colours because it's interpolating green from yellow and red pixels, or even claiming that the whole picture is yellowish because it has got yellow pixels(which they wouldn't be if they actually knew how Bayer filter works). Let me tell you from my personal experience with P30's camera - those people are wrong, it doesn't have any issue with greens, but it does with other colors.

The problem is that since it is "guessing" the amount of green light entering the sensor, sometimes other colors have TOO MUCH green in them. The color rendition of midtones are perfectly fine, but as it goes towards shadows or highlights, which are the both ends of the histogram, it starts to have obvious green tint. In most cases shadows are rendered correctly due to decent HDR algorithm providing sufficient information to accurately reproduce all the colors in darker areas, but sometimes pale blue of the sky turns cyan and red turns yellow when they are overexposed. Did you get it? Blue + green = cyan, red + green = yellow. And the camera often uses warm white balance in an attempt to hide those color artifacts, especially the former, resulting in seemingly desaturated sky that looks unpleasant. Huawei mitigated the WB issue in C124 update, but it has not been fixed completely - I would say right now it's 40% accurate. Good thing is that the camera gets the color saturation and contrast right unlike Galaxy or Pixel so it's *relatively* easy to fix the weird color cast if I want to, but as you know, post editing doesn't always work due to the fact that I'm editing JPEG and rather than RAW. Inaccurate WB and color artifacts are the major gripes I have about this phone's camera, which is weird considering that I liked my Mate 10 Pro's camera because it was so good at getting the correct WB. Hopefully the issues will be eliminated in future software update, as this should be easily fixable by using more aggressive HDR like Apple's Smart HDR. But as for now I can't really call this the best daytime camera, unfortunately.

Huawei quality is light years ahead of sammy. Ever since i switched from samsung to huawei, never was a day i dont pity samsung users.

Phone manufacturers are now creating cameras with a phone attachment not the other way around. 😂😂

the comments sayin theres bad color rendering, arfefacts, no greens, too many yellow and whanots have been said. i dunno, you got it in youtube? lols. seriously, nothing is wrong with my workmates' p30 pro. have played with the device for quite amount of time, and i must say that whatever huawei is doin in the camera department, its great. not gonna switch from my mate20pro tho coz its still amazing as day 1.

And this the reason why the colors on the main camera are off, bad, lacking on green and dirty like shit (course they are polluted by yellow).

                                  >>> Of course, there is still the issue of demosaicing but with the improvement in that area as well as with the use of artificial intelligence that analyzes the contents of the image, it is now possible to correctly determine colors even without a dedicated green channel. Indeed, in our reviews, we saw no funny business going on with the colors from the P30 Pro.

Come on guys, are you serious? P30 has serious color rendering issues and actual photo samples go from "great" to "horrible" in terms of color depending on shooting conditions and some random factor.

                                  By "issues" i mean:
                                  - artefacts in high contrast areas with red\yellow lights
                                  - color washout in low light
                                  - poor color rendering in fine color casts and reflexes in any light (washout, incorrect color)
