Sony WH-1000XM3 by themselves are not really great headphones, but bundled with Xperia 1 phone you can really ease the pain of not that great headphones and phone that looks like a proper disaster.
I used this deal before with Compact ZX2 and WH-1000XM2 - my friend wanted Compact, I wanted WH-1000XM2. I got headphones with 50% discount, he got Compact with 30% discount win-win situation ;)

I read somewhere, that the reason why they are holding back on phone camera quality, was that they didn't want to compete against their own compact cameras. The problem is, that the competitors doesn't hold back. And mobile cameras are replacing compact cameras. Sony makes really nice mobiles, but they need to improve the cameras, if they want to sell more phones and survive the mobile game.

A whole bunch of originaly developed hardware and software stuff is in Xperia 1, and some people do make a good point on why some chinese like Xiaomis are able to sell for much lower price (they get incentives per device for UI 3rd party marketing), so I guess the price is... well, understandable I guess.
But no kind of mobile device, no matter how innovative, will see me cash out a 1000 euro.
Be it Huawei, Sammy, Apple(the guilty one), LG, Sony, Asus, Htc, etc, etc...
Forget about it. There are enough fo..ls out there for that, I aint one of them.
So, even if this is quite an intriguing unique device, I ll pass...

I've said it before: what needs to happen is a Sony Pixel phone.
And that means Xperia needs to be discontinued.
Sony takes care of the hardware and design, and incorporates its own proprietary technology e.g. BIONZ.
Google takes care of the software, stock Android should be updated very quickly without any problems.
It'll be a complementary match made in heaven, because Sony is not good at software and Google is not good at hardware. There'll be cost saving for both companies.
Sadly, that's unlikely to happen because the Japs are too stubborn and Google is now too heavily invested into its subpar OEMs (LG and Motorola). It's a wasted opportunity.

I used Sony phones since Xperia Z1 days and I've jumped ship after Z5 Premium.
Z5 Premium is probably the most beautiful phone i've ever used, but has so many downfalls.
Yes, it already have 4K display, but battery is not impressive and 4K are active only when looking at pictures and watching 4K video content (despite its beauty, SD 810 is not strong enough to play 4K smoothly). I love the design, the side mounted fingerprint sensor, camera and everything else but there's nothing else.. and the "restart" after changing sim card is also nonsense.
Looking at the ZX series, there's not much of an upgrade, same exact features, no decent chrome color option and its just plain underwhelming. If there's a feature pack Xperia phone, i'll buy them, even if it costs $1k but there isn't any. I jumped to Note 8 after my last Sony phone. Great screen, almost 0 lags and no random restarts, and it has an S pen (which I use very often).
There's so many better phones compared to Sony phones nowadays, but one thing that make them didnt sell is their marketing strategy. They cant sell phones just to cater Sony fans alone.

We'll know how well the Xperia 1 sells by the end of the year... and if it even outsells Xperia 10.

How can you advertise the worst big company as far as mobiles are concerned so well, like seriously I never reply until and unless it's harmful to ignore and you literally ruined my day.
GOD Help all these fans who try so hard to defend their fav brands, brand loyality is something I respect but at least there must be a Branch Xperia is a sinking star there would be not enough left in near future to defend to remain loyal too, even their creators are not defending themselves and shown signs of closing mobile department for good but you helpless brick minded fans can't see it, what can I say.

I had the XZ1 when it first came out and after a few updates the battery life would suffer. Thinking it's a 2yrs old phone and didn't think much about it went ahead and got an XZ2 compact. Now this phone too has battery life shortened after being updated to 9.0. I'm too afraid to recommend or get an Xperia nowadays.

Anonymous, 14 May 2019There's a reason chinami phones are so cheap I'm a former Sony Xperia Z5 Compact but deep down in my heart i'm still a Sony fan.
The truth is most Sony always cutting coner when it comes to their phones for example the Xperia Z5 use cheap plastic lens and weak alumunium frame.
The Xperia X10 series has outdated chipset, samsung image sensor and plastic body and even they put small samsung image sensor for the telephoto, ultra wide and front camera.
They only use their own sensor for the main camera but.. The sensor size is actually smaller than previous generation
