It all depends on what Samsung will do. If Samsung will jump ship and go to Tizen OS or other, then things will happen. If Samsung will stay put, Huawei will just be a China brand.

Glad they banned it. China banned Facebook, Twitter, Google and many other Western websites many years ago. We must ban everything China does in USA as well. Huawei makes crap phones. I love Samsung. I am happy for what the president has done

CompactPhones5ever, 20 May 2019The previous restrictions seemed like a slap on the wrist, ... moreNah, they can't start an actual war with China because before that happens the Chinese government will dump its US debt and the US won't have the money to wage a war with anyone let alone with China.
It's all about economic dominance but China has the upper hand and whatever Trump does, he can't change that.

I’m not even American, but I would love someone like Trump to lead the EU. There are no more leaders who take care of their people and countries, and don’t accept bs unfair cr#p from anyone who tries to play dirty like china does.
For people who only see the mainstream news, Trump looks like a crazy mofo. However, once you get into details and see the truth of what’s really happening behind the curtains, suddenly Trump is a true leader and protector.

I don't see how Hauwei will succeed.
Apple & Google take a 30% cut ... if Hauwei can do it for 5% or less then developers might publish to their store.

You know, not a single Chinese buys Huawei, Nubia, Xiaomi or Oppo. No disposable junk. Apple or bust. Real facts, guaranteed.*

THANOS, 20 May 2019is it the endgame of huawei ?Yeah, it's done for Hauwei outside of China.
I hated them for locking the bootloader & thus never bought their recent devices. On this practice alone they deserved to get banned.
However, this is good news for non-US companies who do not currently have a plan B. This is a wake up for global businesses to not rely on US techs. Always have a plan B.

The economic war between US and China is extremely volatile and can end up in a financial crash for both countries, but especially the US as if China decides to drop the 1.1 trillion US debt it holds, the US dollar will plummet and the US government won't be able to just release new bonds.
It seems that there are a lot of dumb people who take this ban only as some sort of smartphone wars and the US government helping Apple regain the spot that Huawei took last year but it's way more than that. There are thousands of US companies (including their international branches), which will lose millions from this ban effective immediately and a lot more in the long run.
And if China decides to retaliate and do the same to the American companies, this will be even worse for them as while Huawei lose mainly its direct Android support from Google, they will lose most of its hardware suppliers and vendors. The US has way more to lose in this war than China (not just on the tech front), so sooner or later they'll come to an agreement and this ban will be lifted.

While I am NOT a Huawei user or supporter, I have believed, for the last few years, that there needs to be a replacement to both iOS and Android, and that with Android their limitations have slowed down developments for companies like Samsung (RAW photos and 10-bit video for shooting and playing back, and so many other things).
The search engine manipulation by Google is also extremely disappointing, and should actually be a cause for group action lawsuits running into the billions.
Also the monopoly of American companies like Snapdragon that have been abusing IP shamelessly by driving the US Department and Judicial system's collapse.
The world needs a replacement for Snapdragon and Google (both Android and their search engine).
I hope Samsung, Sony and Huawei collaborate on a Google replacement .

The previous restrictions seemed like a slap on the wrist, but this is basically a death sentence for Huawei. I doubt there're going to be many people who would buy a device without Google Play... Crazy stuff what's happening, if the company from wrong country grows too big, you can just slit its throat with a snap of the fingers.
I'm honestly surprised just how agressive US is towards the Huawei... Might be preparations for a potential war, limiting the ammounts of potential spy devices in your population.

Am 100% sure this is all about protecting darling Apple and nothing else. Apple is declining from lack of innovation and too high prices. It’s the jewel in the US economic crown and protecting national security isn’t just about physical security it’s also economic security. What better way to do this than target the biggest threat to a US company. Also anyone who things they are being spied on through their iPhone is in la la land. These days we can be spied on through our TV, Alexa, dishwasher etc. It’s a massive shame for the US consumer as Huawei phones are cutting edge and I prefer them to Samsung’s. iPhones dropped off my list after the 6s when they stopped innovating. If Apple got their act together and focussed less on profit and more on product more android users would buy them then there would not be a need to kill the competition. After Huawei it will be Xiaomi, then even Samsung......
