here's an idea. how about lowering the prices and stop releasing new phones every 6 months? and when you announce a flagship ensure it's available within 1-2 weeks time.
also stop trying to make 21:9 ratio happen!

Andy93, 21 May 2019I've got a strategy... Bring the headphone jack back and st... moreYou said it. Many makers now are trying to stay away from the 3.5 mm headphone port. They could attract many people to their phones just by having that simple hole. Additionally, staying away from none rectangular screens (as in no notch) could help them stand out among others too.

They would be dreaming to see my money with their current design choices. Other companies as well. I do not have brand loyality anymore. I buy from what gives me what I need.

Anonymous, 21 May 2019it was so easy for sony to just make a midrange phone like ... moreI willingly sell my ipxr and buy sony phones if sony does something right but xperia 1 is great for me but the battery is a bit concerned to me and the price is $1000. I hope sony does some marketing to make their phones rise again

Shanti Dope, 21 May 2019Pricing below Samsung and Apple territory definitely would ... moreBut samsung and apple are not doing well So pricing their phones like them won't work

Andy93, 21 May 2019I've got a strategy... Bring the headphone jack back and st... morePricing below Samsung and Apple territory definitely would work out, but they can't compete?
Hell naw! The quality of their products are top tier, and on par with the best from the two biggest brands, if not the absolute best.
It's also got things that the two doesn't, such as the 4K HDR 21:9 OLED screen, Cinema Pro Mode, Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology, and many others as well.
Their flagship is every bit as great as you'd expect from a 2019 high end phone, so they definitely are on par with all flagship competitors, heck even better than some of them!

Walter C. Dornez, 21 May 2019Exactly. But with barely any marketing, a 3330 mAh battery,... moreThat's why they really need to cover up the important basics first.
I'm guessing the Xperia 1 to be somehow an initial step towards a different direction that the new Sony Xperia management is heading, and they're playing it safe, as the added battery capacity would make it even heavier than it already is (or worse yet, might experience the same fate as Samsung's Galaxy Note 7 did), and a $1000 price because of the effort they exerted to make it a completely polished device.

But the problem is their timing.
You see, the XZ Premium came out during the time when everyone else is starting to minimize the bezels already, at which it somehow failed considerably, and would've done so much better if it came out a year earlier to be a direct competitor to the S7 Edge.
Then they're coming with this Xperia 1 with minimal bezels when others have nearly eliminated all possible bezels around.
It appears to many as if Sony is playing a catch up game, and only implementing stuff that were already present from various manufacturers.
And speaking of timing, either they should've made the Xperia 1 available for purchase already for a month at most after launch, or don't announce it too early for people to wait a very long time for it. The Galaxy S10 series, for one, has been out for more than 2 months already, and that means a lot of discounts were made on every single one of them, while the Xperia 1 is going to launch at a very steep price, even higher than their competitors whilst not offering anything much better in total.
If it works for them in Japan, then they should do it there instead and not globally.
Imagine, when the Xperia 1 is out, the next Xperia flagship at IFA 2019 will be around the corner in just 2 to 3 months to replace it. What a nice cycle there LMAO

I've got a strategy... Bring the headphone jack back and stop trying to charge as much as Samsung and Apple. They clearly can't compete with them and if they don't stop being idiots their mobile division is going to go the same way as HTC. No one in their right mind is going to pay €1,000 for the Xperia 1

Agnis, 21 May 2019They are completely pulling out of Baltics? Seriously? At ... moreI don't think so... And we've still got German/U.K. online stores & Amazon :D + I personally only looked into Sony phones sold locally when they were on a large sale (Lithuanian "MSRP" - or lack thereof - is outrageous). Veiksmi ;) (or se'kme's, can't really tell from the username xD)

: Sony your biggest problem is your marketing ! You can't release a new phone only to start selling it 4 months later especially your flagship phones. People get all hyped up about your new product only to lose all interest because it takes so long for the phone to become available. So they buy another brand ! Make your phones available for sale right after their release date so your potential customers won't jump ship !!!

I am feeling very sorry for sony.. Sony do not want to fight... they want to die with their head held high with old glory in head..

I get what Sony is doing, but for as long as they overprice (then months later, apply gigantic discounts) their devices, they really don't have a chance. Sadly, they lost me with the Z5 as they really messed up that great phone. I'd say, if they could operate at OnePlus' price ranges, they would have a clear chance in Europe.

For some reason no to much love for Sony. I guess its because Sony does not have proper flagship in 2019 (on sale), also it seems that they are stuck in 2014 with battery in mah, and price. Bad reality, but its a fact.

But with barely any marketing, a 3330 mAh battery, and a 1k price tag, not many will buy it. Instead of going slow and steady, just ask the consumer what they want like Asus did

At their prime Sony was 2nd or 3rd most popular phone brand here. What a loss...

Why don't they sell their phones in the us? There is no competition there and it seems that americans are ok with buying overpriced phones(samsung,lg and apple)

Its a bad decision. Biggest and strongest markets are China, Africa and US and they pulled out of it?
Europe is not so on a side of Sony anymore, they were before but nowadays Iphone, Samsung and Huawei dominate. Sony dont have anything to compete against them.

This people are so funny, were they even present in Africa?

Seriously, Sony pulling out of Africa, were they ever here? Hahaha
