The Pro is strongly-preferred over the vanilla OnePlus 7, but many think there are better options out there.

When it crossed 400$ price point, one plus was never my option. Increase in price, lack of 3.5mm jack made me never look for it

Of course! No headphone jack, no micro sd card slot, with expensive price.

Most of the best headphone out there are wired, so saying that wired headphones are for peasant only, they're wrong!

So 90 Hz is a very good reason to upgrade. It makes a huge difference in daily use, like browsing and anything you do with your phone. Everything is suddenly a lot smoother. 60 Hz does not belong anywhere.

If your budget is ~$700 then you might as well get a real flagship that doesn't cut any corners like the Galaxy S series.

I think OnePlus has played it safe this time. They have released 2 smartphones. The Pro for people who wanted more from OnePlus, and the non-pro for people who wanted the typical OnePlus phone.

Also, based on early sales reports, it seems like the Pro is outselling the non-pro with a healthy margin, which indicates that OnePlus knows what it's doing & didn't really screw up after all.

Two things put it out of race.
                      1. Missing HJ or connector
                      2. Camera pictures quality(although they will bring update but let we will see)

The problem it's not that the 7 pro is a flagship with flagship price. The problem it's that the 7 pro is NOT a flagship with a flagship price. Too many omissions for that price. The most important being a very good camera.

OnePlus' schtick has always been the "processor". So going by that there are three contending processors: Exynos 9820, Kirin 980, and the QSD 855. As for phones, here are the options:

                          Exynos (4 contenders):
                          Samsung S10e, Samsung S10, Samsung S10+, Samsung S10+5G

                          Kirin (11 contenders):
Honor Magic 2, Honor Magic 3D, Honor 20, Honor 20 View, Honor 20 Pro, Huawei Mate 20, Huawei Mate 20 Pro, Huawei Mate 20 X, Huawei Mate 20 X-5G, Huawei P30, Huawei P30 Pro

                          Snapdragon (23 contenders):
Meizu 16s, Nubia RedMagic 3, ZTE Axon10 Pro, ZTE Axon10 Pro-5G, Vivo iQoo, Oppo Reno Zoom, Oppo Reno 5G, Lenovo Z5 GT, Lenovo Z6 Pro, ASUS Zenfone 6, Redmi K20 Pro, Xiaomi BlackShark 2, Xiaomi Mi9, Xiaomi Mi 9-Explorer, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3-5G, LG G8s, LG G8 ThinQ, LG V50-5G, Sony Xperia 1, Samsung S10e, Samsung S10, Samsung S10+, Samsung S10+5G

So there's 38 contenders in total. Most of them are cheaper than the OnePlus 7 Pro. So unless they manage to include a much better battery life, or much better durability, or much better speakers, or much better camera, or much better display, or all of the above... there's not much to separate them from the cheaper competition.

And for OnePlus to try and go fist-to-fist with the established brands (Apple, Google, Samsung, LG, Sony), they additionally need to offer proper Customer Service and support. Other brands (Huawei, ASUS, Lenovo) offer a poor attempt, whilst the newer or smaller brands (OnePlus, Oppo, Vivo, Honor, ZTE, Nubia, Redmi, Xiaomi, Meizu) outright lack in earnest. I think that's what consumers have been trying to communicate in the marketplace.

CompactPhones5ever, 26 May 2019OnePlus made one major mistake - they assumed that people p... moreThat is relative. Features are welcome. For example the cheap audio jack and the microSD card. The 90Hz expensive display is not necessary. A good one is enough.

But even with that display, the price is not justified. If you watch at the Asus Zenfone 6, something smell bad with OnePlus. It's clear that OnePlus is no more what it was. They are now part of the flagship premium regular club or they pretent it with greedy prices for what they offer. You know: "Never Settle"

OnePlus made one major mistake - they assumed that people prefer features over price.

OnePlus had advantage over regular flagships until 6T that it offered all the "important" parts of the flagships while leaving out the gimmicks, thus keeping the price low... Now they added things like 90 Hz 2k screen - this is exactly that kind of stuff that looks so cool until you figure out it drains battery too much, so many people end up changing it to regular 60 Hz 1080p. But it doesn't give them back their money, they just paid extra 100$ to be 'able' to use the 90 Hz they you decide to. OnePlus simply became exactly the same company they were trying to beat. As the quote goes, "You either die a hero or you live long enough to see yourself become the villain."

--voltaire9, 26 May 2019Has no pocket mode and it pocket dialed 2 people and reject... moreAre you sure? Every OnePlus phone has a pocket mode, starting from at least OnePlus 3.

I can verify that it's in settings -> utilities -> pocket mode on my 3T.

This is not at all a matter to be surprised of.

These figures clarify the very fact that it was price tag which worked in favor of rise of OnePlus. Moment they raised the price, they are competing with established players. Anyone who is paying, would definitely like to put money on tried and tested brands rather than a sibling of OPPO VIVO. This holds true specifically for a price conscious market like India.

And moment Pocophone 2 arrives , OnePlus will know the reality.

🙄Nice display but not that price. Looks like the K20 Pro is the new flagship killer
