Stop being blinded by Apple Arrogance and brand, it is nothing but a mere mid range phone designed for image conscious shallow people. As far as Jon Rettinger goes, he's a fair man with an unbalanced view but let it be known that not all follow his example, we are on the net to think for ourselves rather than be dictated by one voice. So what if a better model comes along, as the poster before you said, what Samsung is doing is the right strategy with the galaxy S as it is one flagship per year which should stay that way. If you're late to the game, don't fret, knowing that in 24 months time the technology will be 60 times more powerful than what may be released after that new phone you just saw after you upgraded, live for the moment now rather than get upset over something that is likely to be overshadowed anyway.
Excuse me, Dual core better than Quad core for gaming/battery? Go and read the facts before you post such ludicrous falsified statements.

IE a quad core phone is not always better than a dual core for many,many reasons (battery life,gaming,etc) . Yes it,s an important release but sales figures and profit and annuel turn over speak many ,many more words than a device . The devices you speak of on what will they be like is very easy . They will all try to emulate the new unreleased iphone . NOW i must explain i do not own a smartphone or have any apple products or android products BUT will buy a device when a good enough spec comes along . Hoping on the new iphone if screen size increases as my large hands makes things difficult . All current devices have an issue in one way or another even if only slight in some cases . But back to your issue with me watch this link if it works on one of the best phone reviewers(listened to)on the planet

I am from India and here Samsung's higher end smartphones like omnia, wave, galaxy as well as lower end phones like guru, corby, star, duos all are selling like hotcakes. Nokia will soon be out of the competition.

[deleted post]In which case its better to wait for what the competition unveils fitst so that the technology can be improved. The only cool thing to copy the iphone is the in built digital voice assistant which itself was not apples invention, In actual fact, what has been the redeeming feature of the iphone since siri that is worth copying.

They are definitely delaying due to fear of the competition. Samsung doesn't like to make their move first, as it becomes too obvious when they make changes by copying. They even blatantly delayed their Galaxy Tab after iPad 2 was announced, and suddenly a few weeks later, the new Galaxy Tab appeared, looking more like the iPad. Kinda shameful behavior on their part.
C'mon Samsung, show a little backbone. You have nice products, show a little guts and originality for goodness sake.

[deleted post]I wouldn't say it's down to the American market, I think this is probably just a way to perfect the S3 or add additional unheard of tech onto the phone or maybe beef up the processor. I'd rather the delay than a rushed product knowing that improvement into the user experience has been taken into account.

It does seem very,very odd but when the iphone 4s and sgs2 are the best sellers and consistently in the news it makes sense..When a product starts to sell it starts from that date ie day 1 ..When tech blogs state about fone sales they ALWAYS say "But dont forget that phone A was released 3 months before phone B so sales will be higher"...If samsung want a competition the best thing they could do is release sgs3 at same time as iphone 5 and go into battle..

Imagine the s3 us so flexy that can be bent to a full 'U shape, 8 meg camera with 5 times optical zoom, 42 mbs download PS, twice fast processor, can plug and power a 1TB external drive, 3D&2D screen with three times resolution an for d get google to specifically to test out the OS for Q.A and team up with playstation for the next game hub so we can get all the great game from psp and ps. Also restrict crappy apps to be loaded on market as we don't need a million apps but we want to have well written apps included in the phone for a great first timer experience! (make sure standed apps can how ever be deleted if we wish to! Hehe.

I don't really know if the delay was because of the Xperia S or the iPhone 5. Perhaps the GS3 packed the same specs the Xperia S has but also ran on 2.3.7...maybe Samsung is releasing it late so it will have 4.0. Sad thing is...Xperia S is getting 4.0 between April-May so it's useless.

If this is true. It will disappoint all Samsung fans.Why cant they release US and globally simultaneously within 1 or 2 months gap?
If they postpone the announcement, i think it's because they want to get closest possible for the iphone 5 release. because if they release too early by the time new iphone come galaxy SIII looks outdated.

This is an Iphone rival once a year handset that is surely the most important flagship for, if not all of Android. Delaying the GS3 can only be a good thing but I'm sure his holiness would already know that. Wil the almighty one lend us his wisdom as to what next year's devices will be like? Especially top end HTC's/Nokias/Iphone 6 and Galaxy S4's will be like?

Will be interesting to see what the s3 wili bring! Working for Vodafone NZ for the last 7 years, im still blown away everyday how far mobiles has come. I still remember theseeing the facial of my customer when I demonstrated a video call to them for the first time, that was price less.
I think Apple has done a greatjob not confusing their customers and them self with so many different handsets and continuing with consistant production and excellent
reputation. But as a very experienced user and sellers point
if view, I have to say I've had much better run withe Galaxy $ and $2 than iphone 4-4s, base on the amountradiationtarpanr
