Those screens wont l... moreit's their first attempt. and samsung most likely wont give up that easily on foldables because, unlike huawei or other oems, they have been working on it for almost a decade now (since 2011). we have been stuck with rectangular brick design for sometime now, and the market is looking into another form factor. most tech reviewers think foldables are it. no, not bezelless nor buttonless because those are still rectangular bricks. we are still years behind the possibility of real holographic displays (the ones that are suspended in mid-air unlike red's), so really the next form factor are foldables or rollables.

The Mate 20 X is 1.3 cm wider and less than 1cm taller. People that buy the Mate 20 X want a phablet and buy it as that type of phone. The Xperia 1 was supposed to be a regular phone. Now it's a spawn, practically as tall as a phablet and narrow as an old 4.8" 16: 9, a full-blown giraffe neck.

They cost more than phone/tablet combo ....
Samsung is the #1 seller, anyway Galaxy F will fail.

where are the sony fanboys who were rabidly bashing samsung and huawei about foldables? see, i myself hate to see sony mobile fold out from alot of markets because i used to be a fan as well, but the company was isolating itself too much from what the market actually wanted. instead they tried to push "innovations" that only their dwindling number of fans can appreciate. sony fans defended the 21:9 like it's the next best thing, and another soon-to-be-out-of-the-business oem sure copied the aspect ratio, but it ended up as one more nail to sony mobile's coffin. here- after those teases on foldables, the market sure does crave for foldables now, and with sony working on such a device, i hope this would pave for their comeback.

Depending on the users needs, yes a bigger screen can be more useful. 2 in 1 devices are a premium as they perform both functions obviously so they don't need to waste space for another device.

When phones screen get so big that they need to start making foldable phones to fit in your pocket. Why not just make smaller dimensions for the phones with full screen and no bezels.
But no we need a 32inch screens folded in our pockets just cause bigger is better ?
These are not phones anymore and should be renamed to tablets or what ever that has a phone app on them what you dont use much cause the point is bigger screen as a pocket computer and not a phone

Sony will "Reuse" samsung's (or huawei's) design and made few modifications to increase the durability.
This is their intention from the beginning. To Let samsung (and huawei) waste money to research foldables, Copy the finished products, And do a little modification.
Y know... sony's mobile division dont have much money..
