The film Simulations look similar to the one on LG. The Dynamic Range needs a little working on, in Both photos and video.
Hopefully the codec and bitrate are robust.

Japanese are still, and will always be, leaders in technology.
Japanese headphones being mediocre? Denon's D9200's want to have a word with ya. And so do Audio Technica's M series. Oh, and while we at it, let's throw Sony's higher end headphones in there, too. Pioneer headphones are really good too. Oooh, and boy, don't get me started on JVC's lower end headphones like the RX700's... Great build quality and phenomenal audio at an unbeatable price.
Japanese craftsmanship and attention to detail.
Cars, cameras, speakers, amplifiers, receivers, robotics, medical research, chemistry, architecture, I can go on.

Let's face the f... moreA punch hole reduces the physical size of the phone, substantially. These huge top and bottom bezels were neat in 2017. Get with the program or people will keep ignoring Sony!
The fact that Sony phones are also extremely bulky and thick, compared to the rest, is reminder that Sony is just too slow keeping up with evolution.
Sony and other Japanese brands were spearheading tech evolution in the 80's and partially in the 90's. Not anymore. Not by a long shot. I saw similar hyperbole in a headphone post on here a couple days ago. "Sony makes the best headphones, like other Japanese brands!". That was maybe also true in the 90's, when headphone fidelity barely had evolved since the 60's. Today, Japanese headphones rank in the grey mid range, not bad, not great. Nowhere near the brands known for perfecting those, these days.

Let's face the facts that notch and hole ruins media consumption experience, not even counting that would erase part of the scenario while recording 21:9. Pop up selfie like OP7 Pro or slide like Honor Magic 2 does not allow IP rating to be used.
Give us your ideas .....
People want things before knowing if they are possible. Sony wants you to know that is a Xperia when you look at it. Not like 90% of the phones that look like same.
What's the point of all brands using same design? Look at Moto G7, there are at least 100 devices on Gsma database that look exactly alike ....

Only based on specs, collaborations and YouTube, this is normal/tele/superwide camera smartphone king. Colors, detail. Only based on xz line test shots in tool I expect the competition to get beating.
Of course smart-phone is not just about taking pictures, but some surely care.

AnonD-762416, 30 May 2019Why is it that there are always more people defending Sony ... moresrsly those defending probably has at least a sony phone. myseld is using xz premium and it is going to turn 2 years old this june. it is working perfectly fine up till now which means i will held back from buying new phones every time they launch, i didnt pull the trigger on xz3 after they announce xperia 1 and since september they are going to launch another flagship probably so i want to know what they going to release. they have quite a messed up marketing but their phone really last very long. why change new if it is not broken right? probably that is why nokia fall too. bcuz their phone wont break

One only needs to look back in the very late 90s and most of the 2000s (maybe even the early 2010s with things like the Sharp Aquos Crystal) to see Japan's expertise and know-how in technology. When the rest of the world used cellphones for calls and SMS, the Japanese used them for that AND for music, web browsing, email checking, bank account checking, and, later on, as phone cameras, credit cards, and so on. That was LONG before the west even thought of implementing stuff like that in their phones. It's just that, the Japanese, being introvert and only really caring for their home market, missed the chance (or chances) to literally take over the world.
Thankfully that's only in the smartphone front, though. When it comes to such things as cars, cameras, and home appliances, they're either the undisputed king or in the top 2-3.
And don't get me started on *really* high end stuff, like receivers, speakers, amplifiers, etc - Japanese craftsmanship speaks for itself there.
