If you need more than 1s you better use tripod.
1/8s is enough for handheld.
OIS does not make video stabilization any better. That is why the videos 4K60 of any phone looks shot by a 100 year old person.
Just few Sony lenses have OIS. Their full frames uses IN-BODY stabilization. Sensor is stabilized instead of lenses.
I'd rather have 1/2.3 RGB + 1/2.3" mono without OIS than 1/2.6" with OIS.

a steady shot thats actually useful in low light, nice
its funny that they compare it to FF cameras since the xperia 1 will be stabilizing larger movements than their flagship FF ie the a7iii's - which is what most people will "see"
most people dont care that the images are blurry etc.
just like previous xperia phones, whoever knows how to use a camera will make the best pics and videos with it. whoever does not will find it cool but prefer their iphone/samsung/etc. making pics with the old xz2 today still looks better than the s10 ive next to it as long as you dont just randomely snap pics (which is quite hit and miss on the xz2 compared to the s10) but actually set it up, be at the right distance, etc. I just can't do it on the s10.

BTW, I'll take older LG phones with OIS over Sony's recent EIS-only cameras anyday.
It's laughable that the Xperia 1 (a 2019 model) is the first Sony phone to come up with OIS on it's main camera.

2) LG had 21:9 phone years ago.
3) Since november we all knew Sony phones were going to be 21:9. Xperia 10 is for sale since February. On same day of Sony presentation. None knew anything about Moto One Vision.

I have sharp memory, and I don't recall a lot of people complaining about Samsung's new aspect ratio, at least not a huge community do.
Perhaps for LG there were lots of it, but pretty much nothing for Samsung, which is very weird to say the least.
They still preferred the 16:9, that's for sure, but when they're using Samsung's 18:9 smartphone, they appeared to be fine, while they aren't happy when it's a different 18:9 phone.

And even with that, people would still find many faults from it, like Sony lost their identity and became a copycat whatsoever lol.
It's very hard to please people with good Japanese stuff, especially not when it includes the Sony Xperia branding.
What hurts the most is that the mainstream media gives recognition to the popular brands for implementing new innovative features on their products that are sometimes just straightly lifted from Sony's portfolio.
I know their marketing team is kind of sh*t, but even if not properly given the due credit, at least people could be kind enough not to bash it and support it instead.
I see people always finding faults on great things, but when it's their favorite brand, they praise it as if it's something that the world has never seen.
