02 June 2019

antimatter, 03 Jun 2019I pretty damn sure you will use casing. what's the fuss abo... moreOf course I won't use a case if the phone isn't fragile or slippery. Only glass phones require cases. I have a phone with a plastic body and obviously I don't need a case for it.

Anonymous, 03 Jun 2019even if you had millions or already have a company, competi... moreI basically want to take something like the Nubia RedMagic 3, make it...
....more compact (16:9), more durable (materials), more featured (see spec-list), more intuitive (AndroidOne software), and waterproof.

I don't see how this is unachievable with the cost and parts we have today. In fact, I already have a design laid out for it.

Basically where the phone market was heading in 2014, until it did a jerk and changed directions in 2016 to promote shiny/glass/port-less philosophy. I frankly want to make a phone FOR the consumer, and not one for fat-profit-margins or sneaky corner cutting. And my philosophy is that by making an honestly good phone it will find success despite what the competitors say (for eg/ LG G2, Note4, LG V20, Sony XZ1, Pocophone F1, Meizu 16s). Basically, it would be the best phone money can buy, except some conditions like No iOS, No jewellery, No Brick/Mortar Stores, No Mass Marketing Budget and No Exotic technologies (eg A new 240Hz SAMOLED display that Samsung won't sell others).

Still waiting for a so called Flagship Killer with a P30 or Pixel 3 grade photo quality and at the same time dual-SIM capabilities. The K20 Pro seems not to be it :(

Every week some or other company launches couple of phones with various specifications. Still, every week you ask the same question about some or other phone in your opinion poll! Is this phone a flagship killer? :)

Popy, 02 Jun 2019Why are people hating on xiaomi for delivering high specs f... moreYes, that's damn true!!

You don't have a review yet.
Anyway, it is amazing on the spec sheet though I'd rather have an LCD panel capable of 90Hz than AMOLED. AMOLED is not sharp, every time I open my back phone, Nexus 5, I'm always blown away with its sharpness. Besides, LCD might be 50% cheaper.

Nitpicking, I wonder they removed the microsd slot where it was available in the Poco F1.

darkmatter, 03 Jun 2019stereo speaker for what, like that tiny drivers goin' to gi... morevery much possible with small drivers. have a look at those on razer phone 1 and 2. those are individually amplified and are dolby atmos certified. it is capable of simulating surround sound with properly encoded content. i often use either of the phones to play music in our room, and it can actually fill a small room with music without the need for external speakers. of course you cannot compare its volume with bigger drivers, but as far as quality goes you'll be blown away.

Kangal, 03 Jun 2019Oh trust me I would. I simply lack the money, time, and fac... moreeven if you had millions or already have a company, competition might allow you to do whatever you want in a phone, but producers, OEMs, market availability and many more will not allow you in doing so

K20 pro not having ois makes a major difference honestly, it went from good camera to terrible camera,i don't have stable hands honestly, even just for main camera would have been good

Kangal, 03 Jun 2019Oh trust me I would. I simply lack the money, time, and fac... moreIf you can spread this by word-of-mouth like Xiaomi did and save millions on advertising, you may have a shot. But profit margins would be as low as 2%, less than Xiaomi's self-imposed limit of 5%. Still beats Apple's overpriced 30% margin tho, but hey, one can dream.

Kangal, 03 Jun 2019Oh trust me I would. I simply lack the money, time, and fac... moreThat's so cute lol

AnonD-869181, 02 Jun 2019Start your own company and make that phone and put the pric... moreOh trust me I would. I simply lack the money, time, and factory, but if I had inherited a few million I could and would make it a reality.

                        Here's what I would do:
                        - Front-firing stereo loudspeakers
                        - Stereo front cameras
                        - Stereo rear cameras
                        - Stereo microphones
                        - Stereo haptic vaibrators
                        - Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner in centre
                        - 16:9 OLED Flat display in middle (+600nits)
                        - Centre of Right Side houses USB 3.1-C port and a QuadDAC Headphone Jack
                        - Right Side houses four programmable buttons (Power, Vol Up, Vol Down, Camera, etc etc).
                        - Left, Top and Bottom Sides are flush.
                        - JoyCons can be taken from your jeans pocket and fastened to the Top/Bottom Sides. When flipped in landscape, you have a proper working console. Controllers come included in the box.
                        - Maybe a Laptop-Dock like the Razer Phone, and a good DeX Mode to take advantage of such Docks (HDMI thru USB-C).
                        - No fan or Cooling, it's going to be IP68 rated.
                        - A flat front, flat back, and chamfered sides.
                        - Will include niceties like microSD, Super FastCharging, NFC, IrDa, BT, Wifi, 4G+ etc etc
                        - And lastly it will run AndroidOne, monthly security updates and as much platform updates as possible. Also with kernel released and unlockable bootloader, so people can port ResurectionRemix and FlymeOS.

Of course it'll come in 3 different sizes, with 3 different specs (9 variants total).
                        - Size A: 4.5inch screen, 80% StB, 2x1500mAh battery, 125 x 64 x 8.9mm
                        - Size B: 5.2inch screen, 85% StB, 2x2000mAh battery, 135 x 70 x 8.9mm
                        - Size C: 5.8inch screen, 90% StB, 2x2500mAh battery, 150 x 74 x 8.9mm

                        - Spec 1: QSD 636, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, 1080p OLED, Gorilla Glass + Aerospace-grade Polycarbonate body
                        - Spec 2: QSD 730, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 1080p HRD10-OLED, Gorilla Glass + Scratch Resistance 7000-series Aluminium body

                        Price A1 - B1 - C1: USD $200 - $222 - $250
                        Price A2 - B2 - C2: USD $300 - $333 - $350
                        Price A3 - B3 - C3: USD $500 - $555 - $600

k20 Pro Display still Supports HDR as per https://www.mi.com/redmik20pro/specs/

are you dumb? if you wish for flagship material then the price itself will be gone far..
just buy MI 9 if you want true flagship material..
but having lower price with flagship processor and camera, why ask for more?

The price alone is the killer.
