Samsung Galaxy Note10 will come with physical buttons after all, but no headphone jack

01 June 2019
Samsung did test a design without the physical buttons, but it didn't pass the company's "rigorous testing."

Ditching the headphone jack is a colossal misstep. The Note9 runs a 32 bit 384khz DAC, Bluetooth 5.0 is still only capable of pushing 24 bit 48khz, and even then assuming ideal signal transmission conditions. To make your flagship device a compromise on something that has been a real point of difference for a number of years is technical merit caving in to the trendy know-nothing crowd who don't appreciate the power of what they hold in their hand with one of these devices.

Please don't say "reduce costs" because that's untrue and you know it. You have a phone store right? You of all people should be aware that phones are more expensive every year with marginal improvements. And this doesn't give "more IP resistance". IP68 is clearly defined. We have phones with unsealed batteries, a headphone jack, an SD slot AND IP68.

And same ges for SD Slot and Jack.
I understand people value this add on ut is not essential and what is not essential should be removed to reduce cost of device and adds more IP resistance because of fewer slots, holes etc.

And please quit it with "wires tangling, I tripped on my own wires, I almost strangled myself with my wires, I want ALL CAPS FREEDOM" because that's simply pathetic. If you can't manage a simple wire, I don't know what you can do...

My wired headphones are always usable, all the time. And they always will because the battery won't degrade and make them useless, because there is no battery. But hey, if you feel like paying a lot of cash every year or two on new headphones, go ahead. I'll buy excellent ones now and won't ever have to worry about new headphones ever again. Thus I'm FREE from planned obsolescence.

Still not saying what you compare them with... You never had any wired headphones didn't you...

Maybe not all the... moreOEMs use Face Scanning because it's a dumb trend and it's not even secure without proper hardware. And you know most phones with "Face Scanning" only have a 2D selfie camera that is unsuitable for this. And under-display fingerprint scanning sounds cool and you can show-off. Plus it's a freely available component. It's not "shared". It's "sold".

But please enumerate reasons, reasons that benefits people and not the greed of the companies' shareholders and repair shops, as to why batteries had to be sealed.

                                      I prefer FREEDOM.
Freedom from tangling wires of the headsets.
I don't like struggling to untangle the headsets wires every time I need to use it.
                                      That's hassle.

I hate something restricting my movements with wires. It's not cool.
I hate it when the tangling wires get caught with the things around as well as passing people's arm/hands when in crowded places.
I just don't like headphone wires. And I don't do bungee jumping FYI.
