Huawei nova 5 stops by Antutu, Kirin 810 outscores Snapdragon 730

23 June 2019
Not only is the Kirin 810 a significant improvement over its 710 predecessor, it also edges out Qualcomm's most potent midrange offering.

Kirin 810 has two A-76 clocked at 2.27 GHz and six A-55 clocked at 1.55 GHz.
SD 730 has two Kryo 470 clocked at 2.2GHz and six Kryo 470 clocked at 1.8GHz.
Though I am not sure how mobile phones processor works but just adding up all the clock frequencies, when all cores are up and running:
Kirin 810 has 13.84 GHz ( 2x2.27+6x1.55)
Whereas SD730 has 15.2 GHz (2x2.2+6x1.8).
Moreover Kryo core is latest and better technology, more than one year old now, by ARM whereas Adreno is old technology of ARM.
So being Neutral observer and a smartphone noob, I do not really understand how can Kirin810 beat SD730 in score despite having overall lower clock speed and older Adreno technology.

eventually Huawei's chipsets will takeover as the best in mid to high end chipsets (CPU - GPU)

Joe Dickson, 24 Jun 2019I guess you haven't seen the results from Geekbench GPU tes... moreOfficial numbers? No, i haven't seen any.

Huawei's slice numbers yes, and based on those is why im saying its on par with 821.
How it will behave in actual games will be another story.

__ Oh you meant GB renderscript? No i havent seen those, but given their usefulness on android it doesnt really matter. lol

We all know how the Chinese rig the Benchmark for their devices.. let's wait a while for the real Score

Anonymous, 23 Jun 2019You can find the Redmi note 7 ( SD660 ) at about $140~145. ... moreRedmi Note 7 is an exception lol, its crazy cheap.

About EMUI, i dont agree with u. Been experience it for 3 years & a half already on various of device. Its one of the best around. Security patch almost every month, 2 major android update for sure, 3 is a bonus. The best part? Its as fast as day 1 even for years of usage. Hate its stock EMUI look but love its feature. And the looks always customizable, so no problem.

And even the raw performance of K810 is better , you can still have roughly the same performance between SD730 and K810 if you had SD730 with stock android compared to K810 with EMUI.

The problem is that how much more powerful will depend on how good the drivers and support from developers is gonna have.

And no, the mali is not even close to the adreno on the 845 but is, in fact, the first mid range to reach snapdragon 821 GPU level.

BUT what about SNAPDRAGON 730G??? It's supposed to be much better than the basic 730 and very close to 835. Guess we'll see in time????

If u look at its sales chart every year, its because of their own Honor/mid range device that sells the most. Which means their bussiness strategy is spot on, making a lot of money. Their Kirin 710 device can be bought for about $185 now (Honor 8x, Nova 3i, Y9) while same performance SD660 device is higher in price.

And about the UI skin, EMUI themes always customizable. I even use my own created Sony Xperia 1 theme on my Mate 20 EMUI 9.

In Qualcomm case at least it is not spamming only in one brand. It is in many different brand at varying price. People can make choices based on specs and UI skin they preferred. Huawei case is that they used it too many in their own brand with overly similar specs and similar pricing just variety of design. It's anti competitive within their own brand.

A sd820 scores 182k on antutu with custom kernel! Gpu score is 75k ! A 2016's flagship soc gpu is still faster than a 2019's upper midrange soc!! Thats what Snapdragons Can do!! Custom rom support, custom kernels, bootloader unlock and soo many things only exist for SD! Kirin are nothing but pure crap! They just have numbers to brag about!

realitychecker, 23 Jun 2019buddy, i've heard dozens of xioami users brag about their b... moreWell admittedly, I was wrong in that part, but considering those "braggers" in comparison to the Kirin braggers, the former are at least in the right side, because what they are bragging about is true and have been proven several to hundreds of times already.
Meanwhile, die-hard Kirin fanboys bragged about their Kirin 980 being faster than the Apple A12 Bionic chip, but turned out it can't even completely dominate the Snapdragon 845, which in itself is already quite a long shot away from the supreme Apple chipset of yesteryear (A11 Bionic).

What I'm pointing out here is that it's fine to brag about things, as long as they are proven true and do no harm to anything or anybody.

Haa haa.. Who believe those score since Huawei already admit all SoC made by them has been tweak to recognised benchmark apps like antutu & etc to run full throttle..
