Mr Elop caused the downgrade of Nokia an Symbian after is Febuary 11th comment "Symbian is Dead" an mobile retailers thought then whats the use of selling phones when its sofwares going to be dead, then Mr Elop changed is comment saying they would still support Symbian while 2016,but Mr Elop only chose Windows because is old Employees Microsoft were Struggling to compete with Apple an Android an paid Nokia $250 million to switch to Windows, but Mr Elop didn"t realise then that most of its Nokia Symbian phone user did not like the Restrictions that is put on Windows an now have left Nokia for a Android phone because you can do nearly all the same things with the Android you could do on a Nokia Symbian phone,Mr Elop made the delay of Belle thinking people will get feed up waiting for the Belle update for the N8 an switch to Windows but instead have left Nokia,Samsung Galaxy S2 alot better Value than the Lumia 800,Mr Elop as now really made Nokia in a bad situation an doesn"t seem to know what customers want from a Smartphone

With Belle ready to be released across
all Symbian^ 3 devices, Carla already
      showing up in various developer
forums, and Skype & Microsoft Office
      products now getting released on
      Symbian phones...does this rumor
make sense? For sure, Symbian is in
rapid decline in Western Europe. But
Asia made up most ot the 18+ Million
handsets sold last quarter. To note,
      these sales increased quarter to
quarter. So why would Nokia abandon
the platform so early. It makes no
sense. Sure, it woud lower costs.. .but
at a significant cost to the top line.
Neither Elop nor Ballmer want to see
the platform tank so quickly, simply
because a massive install base is just
as likely to move to other ecosystems
BEFORE Windows Phone (w /Apollo) is
ready to carry them over to a highly
      capable mobile environment (4Q 12).
      Both companies want to bolster
Symbian between now and 2013, not
      kill it.
I'm sure Symbian's future devices will
be limited to key products that build
on Nokia's known strengths and not
necessarily hit every price point, as in
the past. More specifically, the higher
end is now with Lumia, and the lower
      end has been somewhat encroached
upon by more capable S40 devices
and the potential reentry of a Linux/
      Harmattan device (Meltemi rumored
to take over from both S40 and
Symbian in the value to discount price
      categories).
But to completely kill off Symbian now
      seems rediculous and irrational.
Sounds like someone is playing a PUT.

Oh look. Seems like everyone is starting to believe the rumors. This will be interesting for Nokia Belle. A sad end, but in the end; WP will be Nokia's savior. Seriously, no quote from a Nokia official? Or at least a so called ''insider''? They're just that; rumors.

Yes, it's true as someone said here already. Most of the current Symbian users won't go to WindowsPhone, but to Android. It's not that WindowsPhone would be bad, it's just that WindowsPhone is as limited as an iPhone. It's not a mobile computer. That's why Nokia should have kept the Meego alive for people who wants a proper handset for working etc.

Elop now is working for microsoft, so therefore symbian is dead... But I hope this is not true... I hope Nokia still produce symbian devices... Symbian is the grandfather of any OS

Android fans are so desperate to kill Symbian and spread these ridiculous rumors. Guess what, many of us won't buy Androids anyway, they are just poorly executed phones with mediocre or weak cameras but faster processors. A 680 Mhz Nokia is still in a lot of ways a lot better than an Android dual-core. N8 rulz (camera with big sensor and xenon, 3x zoom without losing details on video, AMOLED standby screen, 48 khz sound with noise cancelling, construction, HDMI, FM Transmitter, pentaband, HD Voice), the successor of N8 will rule soon ;)

Bart, 04 Feb 2012Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows... moretrue, people are switching from symbian to android not symbian to windows. with no real multi-tasking, and mass storage, windows OS is just apple-like OS.. bad move nokia. can't you see that android's market share is growing? i guess nokia will have a very bad year this 2012. samsung will be leading the market share soon if nokia won't keep up with the trends.
