simonh, 04 Feb 2012i dont know why nokia dont make android phones, its obviousl... moreSimonh, nokia do not switch to Android because they signed an agreement to Symbian that they will patronized it till 2016. Nokia is now seeing their weakness that's why they will switch to windows. That is not also good. If i were Nokia i will invent a new OS similar to iOS, Android, etc.

Albert, 04 Feb 2012why is windows not good ? Come with facts. Albert, windows is not good because it is open application which means that too many programmers can create viruses for it. Unlike other OS like iOS, Android, they are not as open as Windows.

Oh, come on, are you surprised that Symbian phones sales are decreasing? If someone can buy a phone with a dual core cpu, the same battery life, bigger screen and autofocus why would the buy symbian phone with slow, old cpu, fixedfocus camera? If only nokia released symbian phone on belle or carla in near future looking like e7, with bigger resolution, autofocus, dual core cpu and a gig of ram, that would be something. Really really fast os, and I mean it. Extremely fast Symbian belle(it's already fast and smooth on 680mhz arm11 cpu) then that would be a deal braker.

LOL they finally got it ! Although some respect must be paid to the first ever smart phone OS ... but it actually SUCKS, I got stuck in a Bada OS phone now but even Bada is a hell lot better than Symbian (Bada is in a deep need of apps)

Still prefer Symbian. Tried Android and WP7. Went back to Symbian (N8)
- N8s battery lasts forever compared to the Droid I owned before.
- No need for Google/Live account for Contact synchronization. I use Funambol for local Sync w. Thunderbird.
- It just works well. No problems with Symbian so far. :)

Symbian OS is very unstable that's why Android was invented. Most of the time Symbian is unresponsive. Nokia should and must switch to other OS or else they would fall.

Call me crazy, but I recently got a N8 and prefer it's hardware and OS to my SE X10, except for app availability.
Maybe a few of those Symbian developers at Accenture could code a feature-complete podcast player, just as a present to current Symbian device owners?

Albert, 04 Feb 2012why is windows not good ? Come with facts. WP might be stable and fluid system, but it's not user friendly.
- no memory card support
- no flash support
- no native DivX/XviD support
- no usb mass storage support
- no bluetooth support in order to transfer music, pictures etc.
- less number of apps than andoroid market

Let's hope it is not true.
But maybe Symbian for touch is a dead-end altogether. It started bad when they started using a 640x360 screen for their first Iphone Imitation. A screen with that aspect ratio needs to be really big to use the onscreen keyboard. The E7 (4") is perfect. I am using N8 and it is quite reasonable, thou you need Swype to write fast.
But using a smaller screen is a pain in the §$%!
But let's hope they will continue working on it. I do not want to replace my N8. It is perfect since I got Symbian Belle on it. :) Great work Nokia. But I expected that sooner!!!

Hey guys, you are taking this too seriously!
Come on, don't get depressed!
You are dealing with Symbian OS as a dying person, that is not right!
And believe me, I have seen and tried the Dual-Core next symbian device, it is nothing impressive, really!
It is time for you guys to move on, to something better! :)

Bart, 04 Feb 2012Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows... moreI fully subscribe to this view. As of last week, I moved to Android with an HTC Evo 3D. I could have taken the Microsoft route but it wasn't appealing enough, so Android it is. I hope that Nokia will see the trend on time.

I don't kn what u guys saw in android, I hate it because of the small internal memory and vast number of apps that instal only in the internal memory.
Symbian platform is sweet and way ahead of android in many small but important features. The only thing I hated was the slow processor which only became noticeable after I have used android (the belle addressed this though)
I hope this wont be true coz I haven't bought the Nokia 701 is partly because of my hope of Donna. Successor for the N8 is long over due though...

I wonder why Nokia is 'dissing' Symbian, the platform that helped to make the name N-O-K-I-A! Well, thats life, things come and things go and as they usually say; 'they don't make things like they use to' and at least I am left with a 'classic' (my N8) in my hands. Nokia, don't shoot yourself in the foot, ok?

simonh, 04 Feb 2012i dont know why nokia dont make android phones, its obviousl... moreStephen Elop, the man from Microsoft who is now CEO at Nokia is the main culprit.
It seems like he was "sent" to Nokia to get the deal between Nokia & Microsoft signed. Had Nokia joined hands with Google and chosen Android over WP7 as their primary OS, the market would have been drastically different from what it is today.
Samsung & HTC would not have been able to enter emerging markets and as a result, Nokia would have maintained its top spot.
However, there came a hurdle between Nokia and its success. That very hurdle is known as Mr. Stephen Elop, the company CEO.

Its way too sad to see how such an idiot is Mr. Elop, and even more stupid the people that keep him as CEO, Nokia ruled the world with good lookin phones, with great autofocus cams, great battery life.
I love to use a symbian phone, but it seems Mr. Elop is just looking to secure his job as future Microsoft CEO.

Former symbian users are moving towards Android not windows.
Windows is simply said not good.
If nokia would keep producing symbian phones like they used to (with autofocus cams) the sales might even increase instead of decrease.
But hey, if microsoft wants to destroy another european company, then by all means, it will only strengthen then hate towards the company.
