IpsDisplay, 28 Jun 2019Weren't touchscreens several times more expensive, less res... moreResistive touch screens were always bad. Capacitive touch screens were always good. The touch screen wasn't the problem. It was the technology. I personally don't want any half baked technology in my devices costing more for less functionality. My Xiaomi Mi 9 SE fingerprint sensor only unlocks about 80% of the time and when it does it is slower than much cheaper phones.

In display FP scanner is a gimmick just like the notch and hole solution. Create a trend with a problem!
A side mounted FP scanner is much better in every posture to fit the thumb or finger.

Good, because I'm really tired of seeing ugly cut outs for the fingerprint scanner on the back.

Anonymous, 29 Jun 2019Strange, I've had three OLED phones and never had burn-in issues. All the oled phones owners say that they don't had burn ins and no color tinted display. But as a LCD phone user I see only yellowish and flicking oleds on all my friends samsungs and other oled phones.
Maybe when you look at it everyday you don't see the colour tinting. The burn ins is hard to not see.

Seech, 29 Jun 2019Why would people/phone maker want to have/put FP under disp... moreOf course the front on a button is the best. You don't even have to lift the phone from the table or twist your hand to wake up the phone. The move towards all-screen smartphones has necessitated this development.

The only way the under-display implementation would be functionally needed for me is when the notches on the front were eliminated and there's a 2nd display at the rear, otherwise making displays to have UD-FP scanner is just deliberate implementation when having it in the rear is just faster and cheaper.

The sh*ty Oled demise. :))))) burn oled burn!!! :))))
I was expexring JDI to come with this solution because they were working on it for a while. But it's ok with the chinese. BOE is welcomed. Anything to end this oled madness is ok. :)))
Thogh, for me the fp reader best position is on the back.

Why would people/phone maker want to have/put FP under display in the LCD? when the phone maker can simply put the FP on the back or side of the phone, its simple and cost effective. Obviously because its 'cooolerr' to have it under display than the conventional position. Now we will have it in cheap non flagship phone this year yeah Cyberpunk 2077
