Anonymous, 07 Jul 2019You forgot to mention the catch... 4ka's offer of unlimited... moreWell here in Slovakia the 4G coverage is good eough for this kind of cell phone operator and it will grows more and more over time.
Its the youngest among all major the cell phone operators we have here in Slovakia.
I am excluding moinor one which doesnt have own network and use major perator networks to works. Such as Tesco Mobile, Nay Mobile, Disney Mobile, Juro operator or Funfon.
So 8 euros is awesome deal.
But i bet somewhere in Bangladesh or phillipines etc offers can be a lot better.

AnonD-731363, 06 Jul 2019TZoo expensive for too nothing. Here in Slovakia we have ... moreYou forgot to mention the catch... 4ka's offer of unlimited data is (according to its website) valid in its 4G/3G network which doesn't have the best coverage (though it's of course complicated in a country with that much area of mountains). But even at the current price of 12€, it's a nice offer if you live in a covered area indeed.

Anonymous, 04 Jul 2019It is essentially new 4g price plans, just that they will b... moreThat's because EE only bought a tiny portion of the 5G spectrum. Vodafone bought most of it. Congestion shouldn't be an issue, 5G is equivalent to a motorway carrying 64 lanes of traffic, and 4G is equivalent of a 3 lane motorway. At peak times that 3 lane motorway is going to come to a complete standstill due to the sheer volume of traffic. On 5G that's not going to be the case.

Andy93, 04 Jul 2019This is embarrassing. 2 of the 5G plans have speed limit re... moreBecause it isn't just about speed it's about volume. A 2mpbs 5G signal is going to be better than any 4G plan during peak times because there's so slowdown.
Imagine a motorway with only 3 lanes, and at rush hour those 3 lanes come to a standstill because of the sheer amount of traffic trying to get home. Everyone slows down, regardless of the speed you're supposed to get. It's why at concerts/sports events everyone's signal is pretty bad.
5G is the equivalent of a 64 lane motorway with traffic freely going in both sides. EE, for example, only bought 6 of these "lanes" (or frequency spectrums) to provide 5G coverage whereas Vodafone bought 64. That means regardless of traffic, there will be no slow down, and no need for fair usage policies and traffic measures like other networks provide.
Although in theory the speeds are slower than 4G, in practise it's more stable and consistent.

TZoo expensive for too nothing.
Here in Slovakia we have cell phone operator named FOUR or 4ka which for low as 8 euros gives unlimited data at maximum possible speeds 4G can do and a 100 free minutes every month to any domestic phone n umber and another 100 for any number beyound slovakia plus 100 sms for domestic and 100 for outside the country.
But with this unlimited data messages really doesnt matter much also calls if other people have data on all times.
Never ever saw a better deal anywhere.

Spike, 05 Jul 2019So why on earth would anyone subscribe to a limited cap 5G ... moreYou actually have 6 options, as said on the post. The one you are mentioning is for light users (hence the name Lite) that mostly just access social media and internet browsing, which 2mbps is more than enough for but still want unlimited data and improved 5G Latency. Outside London and big cities downloading something at 2mbps is not actually all that bad, no buffering on Netflix movies for example...

5G with speed slower than 3G nice also reception will be pretty bad compared to 3G :)
Why not fix 4G first before moving to 5G

Andy93, 04 Jul 2019This is embarrassing. 2 of the 5G plans have speed limit re... moreIt is essentially new 4g price plans, just that they will be 5g copatible once 5g actually launches to rest of the country.
As for speed, if you live in congested areas (London for example) you actually don't get promised 5G speed anyway due to network congestion. See reviews of people who tried EE 5G already. 1mpbs or less on 4G is not uncommon, and 5G was barely better (guardian, the times both did reviews iirc). When it was NOT congested..then 5G was significantly better.
To put this into perspectivce, O2 and Three both trails far behind in avergae 4G speed amongst the Big Four network. yet Three does the unlimited plan. Vodafone is matching it, but with clear indication to what speed you will be expecting. I have tried Three myself on the prmosie of large data use for cheap, but it was appaling. Barely any 1080p video was avaialble obn mobile, and buffering would be the case if you were to set 1080p. Average speed on good day was 10-15mbps, whereas I had close to 40-50mbps with both Vodafone and EE.
Some people just don't want to spend a lot, some people care for quality they get. If I can get unlimited data, with tethering option, with 5G compatibility for £30 p/m. That's not bad

Am I missing something? The speeds, are slower than 4G. Am I reading that correctly? I went to the source too, still touting appalling speeds.

Health is more important than an internet connection which is faster than needed. 4G is totally fine as it is.

I live in the rural part of India and would really like try 5G but unfortunately, there is no news at all about 5G in India. People in the UK are really lucky to be able to experience the latest technology first hand. If I remember correctly the UK is also amongst the first country to get 4G, I honestly envy people living in the 1st world.
