There's a difference between diffamation and disturbing facts. You can say disturbing facts but you should never be able to spread lies or diffamation

AnonD-863872, 05 Jul 2019While not really a topic worthy of gsmarena, all I can say ... moreProblem is the wrong assumptions inflicted upon those groups. That's the BAD discrimination that harms people and society. Those wrong assumptions are stereotypes. And those stereotypes can severely affect the ability of a person or a group to integrate in society. It is very important not to let those stereotypes spread and worsen. Yet those assumptions are complete rubbish. Still because it's a common belief spread everywhere, this affects you. Can't have a job, profiling, can't rent a home, can't get a raise or a promotion, being insulted or harassed... All this is illegal of course but who cares? You are from group X, X people are bad evil ugly dirty lazy likes to commit crimes etc... Yet neither you or any other X you know fits this description. You suffer from this discrimination that you don't even deserve.

Most of the time, it is someone else's belief/idea that goes against another one.
In this case, anything non-liberal for FB and GOOgle.
Both of them enjoy laws as platforms. When they start censoring stuff selectively beyond the usual trolling ones, they become a publisher.
Different laws for that.

We don't allow murder just because murderers still murder, that's why we shouldn't accept ignorants spreading lies and hate on a massive platform like the internet.
Just for clarification, a fascist is and will never be interested in "discourse", they're only interested in spamming lies. "Discuss" with them and they've already won.

Removing hate speech doesn't remove where the hate speech comes from. All this bill will do is push it into the shadows. It's not gone, it's just pushed into the shadows where it festers and isn't open for public discourse.

Anonymous, 05 Jul 2019This is alm about stopping critisism of muslim mass immigra... moreYes. And pointing out corruption in politics or public life. As long as one isn't abusive and doesn't threaten to kill anyone, I don't really see the hate speech.
I also find the sudden emergence of non binary genders strange. One can suddenly be arrested or censured for not being aware of how many genders there are (limitless apparently), and the appropriate words for referring to them (they change every few weeks).

Can people be mature, and simply just ignore those who are trying to mentally hurt them. Like wow. Do they need a bib and a pacifier, do they want me to wrap my arms around them. Or is this another way for Europe to make money out of the us. Another thing. this is Europe (specifically France) they got yellow jackets to handle all the haters.
Tune in on next weeks episode of "What did i just read"

HovadoLesni, 05 Jul 2019Now you are very wrong there. I use internet for my daily t... moreIf you think universities teach you anything other than how to become a good employee and/or get a specific job (i.e. get the skills and knowledge necessary for a job), and how to function in society and maybe how to live a healthy life, you have much more things to learn. That's just training and extended parenting.
Wikipedia is editable by anyone and is a politically correct, controlled environment, that needs to follow certain rules - rules which make a vast range of information unsuitable for their website.
You won't find the hidden side of the world of knowledge (hidden in plain sight) by tapping just into mainstream sources of mainstream information. Internet giants control which information goes out and which is suppressed, and if you, for example, trust the search results you get on google/facebook/youtube/wikipedia/etc. you are only seeing one side of the picture - the side which is deemed "adequate" - and not necessarily the side and information which is the actual, factual truth.

It's like how black Republicans in America get abuse from so called "liberals" for daring not to fit in the box they're supposed too.

For my education, I study at the university, I spend countless hours on Wikipedia every week.
For my entertainment. Watch YT/Netflix.
To connect with my friends and family. FB/Instagram
to follow people I'm interested in.

Still, FB and Google are businesses, and toxic environment is bad for business. Also, depending on the country, you might also call them public services - many public entities use them to communicate, and even when a disaster happens FB has a feature where you can mark yourself safe, for example. So they should have the same rules as public places. If someone goes to a theater and yells "Fire!" or insults people in a supermarket, they shouldn't complain when they get thrown out by security.
