An Iphone is a "DEVICE" and android is an "OPERATING SYSTEM". What do people expect? The resale value of a 1st generation Iphone will be definitely lesser than a 3GS or a 4 mode...
Again, most of us here are techy and some are not... but then, if we talked about IPHONE, what does it mean??? It use IOS right??? Be wonder if IPHONE use Anroid for its Operating system.
Well, It's proven that Apple products really looks more expensive compare for those handsets that use Android OS.... Thats it

I completely agree with Robert regarding this topic. An Iphone is a "DEVICE" and android is an "OPERATING SYSTEM". What do people expect? The resale value of a 1st generation Iphone will be definitely lesser than a 3GS or a 4 model. Similarly phones having older android versions which cannot be upgradable to the current version will have lesser resale value. So the conclusion is this topic is absolutely useless.

in congress run india symbian still has the best resale value,shopkeepers will follow you around to get your secondhand nokia or other symbian device

Very simple. iPhone releases one flagship phone per year. So, it holds its value. When Samsung & HTC come out with new flagships every month, they drive down the price of the one released only a month prior.
Folks will only pay so much for a smart phone. If your flagship is $300 and you come out with a better one only a month later (as Sammie, HTC & Motorola are known to do) you can't price the new one at $350. You have to price it at $300 and the less fancy one must be cheaper.

Being able to change how your phone looks should not be a main feature in why an OS is better.
The problem is people think progress is quad core chips and 12 megapixel cameras. And from an Android standpoint that is all you will hear. If don't like sense just flash something else on and you will here time and time again about so called openess that some how has become a main feature of Android.
But my question always is why do I have to do that to make it work better why can't it just do that out of the box.
If you look at the S2 one of the biggest selling Android phones yet the resale value is terrible it you were to compare the resale value of the iPhone 4 which as a single handset has sold more than the S2 but it has secondhand
Value.
Hate or love everyone knows what they are going to get when they get an iPhone where as with some Android makers its pot luck. Also even if I think that some of the materials were stupid on the iPhone 4 ie glass on front and back it has quality that Samsung don't have. The back on the S2 is the worst back that I have ever seen on a mobile and it comes to something when there Bada handsets have a better build.

How can u compare Iphone(witch is a phone) with android ( witch is an OS)...
Of course... If u sell your old LG gw620 (witch is crap and have android 1.5 and is upg. to 2.2) u'll sell it cheaper than ur iphone ... or than a galaxy s (witch also have android)...
U can't compare a phone with an OS that can be found on different phones...

All the phones you mentioned cost way more to make because they have way more features than simply launching apps. When I hold an IPhone and sg2 or atrix side by side, I think, man that iPhone has a small screen. IPhone has a higher resale value amongst people who look to buying things secondhand because of its popularity as a niche item. It is among the least expensive phones to make. However, a phone is not a car or house and resale value is not a key factor in deciding what to get.

who cares about resale value.. smartphones are not cheap to change every six months as it used to be.. smartphones are to be kept for at least 18 months..who wants to buy a phone that outdated

And that is why it makes more economic sense to recontract an iPhone, sell it, and buy an Android from people who recontract an Android to sell it and buy an iPhone.
