It's either you are being monitored and can't escape it, thus unsecured devices, or you are not monitored by anyone and thus your device is secure.

                  You cannot uninstall:
Photo/Video Gallery, App Store, Camera, Phone, Messages. Makes sense?

The difference between google and Apple is that the former is built on the premise of collecting user data, interpreting it, and generating money from other companies through ads, search results boost, analytics, etc. whereas the latter is built on selling potent hardware paired with potent software and getting their money from users who pay for said devices. Apple doesn't track users and doesn't allow its users to be tracked by random apps, unless they voluntarily agree to be the subjects of tracking. (e.g. Facebook's user monitoring app)

And the article points out that android is full of security holes, as it's built with less regulation and it offers app developers countless ways to track users. And by coming with so many tracking and monitoring "features", it's easy to find loopholes in their systems.

The article you pointed me to highlights a bug (intentional/unintentional) where apps can communicate with each other and share data between an app that has more permissions and one that has less. It's been also said in the article, that it shall be fixed in Android Q, so clearly that problem will soon go away and both iOS and Android will be equal in that regard.

Google does not only track you by those means, it tracks you through the google app, and play store as well, yeah you turned off your location tracking, but you're still connected to the internet, it can ping wherever you are as long as you're connected.

It even tracks you when you turn on airplane mode and sends the collected data to their servers the next time you have an internet connection.

Which apps can you not uninstall from your iPad? There are just a few core apps which cannot be uninstalled: Safari, Find my iPhone, Health, Clock/Alarms, Wallet, App Store.

Location tracking, search history, etc. can be easily opted out of in Google Account settings. If you are talking about 3rd party apps that gain access to your microphone, etc. that can also be disallowed when first launching the app. I see that you have a different opinion on it so if you could provide evidence of apps spying on you even though you did not permit them to ,that would change my mind, I would be more than happy.

AnonD-863872, 09 Jul 2019sorry, I am a little bit too late to the party. Anyone care... moreiOS protects user data and their users' privacy. You have full control over what apps and services you have installed on your device. Also, apps don't have many priviledges and are limited on what they can track and how.

Android is core built on collecting and sharing information with google and offers tons of options of user tracking for any apps which are installed on your device. For example, if you allow a single app to track your location, that app will share this info with a slew of other apps you have installed, even if you denied those apps the ability to track your location.

And unless you root your device, you cannot uninstall google's apps and services.

Basically, iOS is like a first world country from the future, highly civilised, everyone is educated, and their citizens (apps) do what's best for everyone and the planet. And you cannot be part of that country if you don't want to act for the greater good of the world and humankind.

Whereas android is like a current 3rd world country where everyone (apps) do what they want, rules are meant to be bent or broken, and their government promotes a fake image filled with lies, telling everyone that everything is fine.

FB and Google shows two spectrums of how a company collects and uses data in a two totally different ways. Facebook does it so in malicious ways, as far as twisting people's opinions and gladly handing our fake information. Google is far less intrusive.

That said, what stops from Google from doing it? just because a lot of what it does sits well or at least OK with most of people..it doesn't mean it will be like that. Also we've seen that from likes of Huawei ban, that it is a company that will have to bend to US administration. So what if the US administration is wanting to get user data? What about another company? At which point, what information are ok to give out and what is not? How much of personal information does Google have on me?

Quite frankly, your own private data is your own to manage, not Google's job in all fairness. question remains if you no longer wishes to give access to your data to Google, how much they keep and how much they actually destroy. I've already deleted FB account long ago, but same question remains for them too

Anonymous, 08 Jul 2019The problem is not ads, but search results and information ... moreThe trouble is how do you regulate what Google "presents" to people. Google primarily promotes access to information. Increasingly it's been geared towards making that information relevant to the person using their service. If you ask any business to not gear themselves to their customers they would laugh you out of the room. It's how Google remains relevant. Why is Google so popular? Because people know that whatever information they seek they can rely and depend on Google to provide them with genuinely useful and relevant information.

It's been proven outside of academia that people generally formulate their own opinions within seconds of viewing political candidates or even choices. What other people they know, say or do also has more influence than Google itself.

Without Google's influence the US elections for presidency were certainly meddled with to Trump's gain. He didn't even get the most votes but that's a different topic all together. Facebook is the one that should be shut down. Not Google.
